Follow up question: what might be the easiest way for FCA to address this?

...make a new piece the clip sits in, reorienting the position of the hole out of the way?
Possibly, just have it held lower/toward the side/front, or similar. The weight of the soft top in the install/down position sits right on it (for mine anyway) which is super disappointing considering the time they took to think of a clip holder just for that electrical/washer connection!

Or just detach the clip and push it aside in a sunglass holder which seems to be the easiest workaround

Found a solution to not damage my top and not scratch up the back.

A sunglasses case with drawstrings.

That's smart Steve. We don't want our windshield wiper fluid and rear wiper/defroster electric cable, ….how should I say this;) "sowing their oats" with female Wranglers and making little baby Wranglers they aren't willing to be responsible for and maintain, change their oil, teach them the ropes to off roading, etc.

In the same boat. Thought of attaching it somewhere nearby with double sided tape. I would love to see FCA address it but doubt they will.

Have the same issue with my Sahara. Had it at the dealership today and they looked it over. The service guys said they talked to FCA about it and supposedly this is the first they had heard of it. They told my dealer to compare to another soft top on the lot but mine is the first one they have gotten in. For now they pulled the inside panel off and tucked the wiring harness and hose behind there since I'll have the soft top on for the summer. They have it listed open as a warranty issue for now. It will be interesting to see if FCA comes up with a fix.

Hi DWT,
This is not what we hope to hear. We would like to look into this further and see if there is any opportunity to assist. Please send us a private message if you have not already.

Glad I found this. I just got my soft top and could not understand what I was doing wrong. The good part about the storage bracket popping off and moving out of the way is that the soft top can actually sit lower into the Jeep now thus giving me another inch of visibility back looking out the rear view.

How did they miss this? Seems crazy considering the front header piece of the soft top fits perfectly where they mounted that piece.

Not a perfect solution but it works for now.

Wrapped the cables together with velcro straps

Added a drop of superglue and a neodymium magnet (Home Depot) to the harness

Stuck a metal plate from a generic magnetic cellphone mount to the molding. Probably something steel would have been better.

Stuck magnet to metal.

I have the same problem, hard to believe this was not seen in testing.

Guessing they never removed a hardtop and installed a soft top on the same vehicle otherwise they should have caught it. Maybe internal power conflict among hardtop vs soft top engineers. “You change your design.” “No, you change your design”.

Here’s hoping for a future fix by 2022 model year.
