Took delivery of my 2023 in December after a 90 day wait and it arrived with what is best described as a hair or other fiber beneath the paint. This was on the left door near the A-pillar. Just shaking my head at the lack of QC at the JL plant. Since then it was corrected under warranty and that turned out fine. Just wanted to share so that others know to go look over their new Jeeps paint

If that’s all you had you’re lucky. My 21 Rubicon had two runs in the clear coat and dust in the paint in several spots, thin paint in spots as well. I once ordered a 15 JK that came in with paint so light on the passenger side you could see primer through it. Chrysler had to buy that one back from the dealer it was so bad.

My 2021 Willys hard top had two noticeable runs down one side, but since it was textured I shaved them down with an exacto knife and touched them up with some wrinkle paint.Glad you got yours fixed.

I guess they will have to have the assembly line workers wear hairnets. I'm glad it was covered and fixed under warranty. As others have posted some new Jeeps come in with way worse issues.

I’ve got small bubbles all over my 21. Don’t worry, with all the price increases I’m sure that just means they’re putting out a better quality product ?
You must be out of the loop. This enables your Jeep to go faster and further....just like a golf ball. it's an enhancement after 2020

Looks very similar to the defect I have under the clearcoat on my '23 hardtop. Still not sure what it is, but to the naked eye it looks like a hair/whisker embedded in the paint. Rest of the paint job is pretty shit as well, and nearly every angle of reflection on every panel has a bumpy orange peel texture to it.

I really wasn't expecting a fancy Lexus finish or anything, but I've gotten better paint jobs on vehicles costing half as much. With their hefty premium on painted top and fenders, they should be embarrassed with that level of quality for a $60k+ vehicle.

I didn't have much of a chance to go over it the night of pick up. The weather here was like being inside a snow globe. The rest of the vehicle is spot on as it should be, just that one glaringly obvious flaw that imo, should have been caught in QC. Fortunately I have an awesome dealer that put me in a 20' Grand Cherokee Trailhawk while they corrected the paint, which was fun.

I’ve honestly never looked over my Jeep closely enough to find out if I have any of these flaws. I did by a 2012 Mustang GT Boss 302 Laguna Seca that had a fisheye in the paint on the roof and a run on the back of the trunk. If you go to the forums of ANY brand of car that isn’t hand built you will find people complaining about getting a car with a flaw in the paint. Unfortunately, no mass produced car manufacture spends the time to inspect every inch of the car the way many new owners do. I‘m just hoping that I somehow avoid the corrosion at the hinges.

I did the corrosion thing on my 20' JL for the right door and leading edge of the hood. Again, the dealer did a commendable job fixing that.

My 2018s paint had/s no issues. Seems more common after covid.

i remember checking out a $230k amg benz at the dealer, in the showroom, with tons of orange peel. Youd think for that kind of money it would be color sanded and buffed to perfection

Almost all vehicles come with orange peel on it these days. In 2014 I was in a Nissan dealership buying a used Tahoe. While waiting on a proper offer, I was looking at a 370Z on the showroom floor. Had terrible orange peel. Sales guy says pretty much they all come that way now.

A couple of years ago I was watching a video on folks painting a high end sports car. It came out like a mirror finish and no orange peel. They mentioned in the video a lot times painting them that way hides the defects with the body panels themselves. If the paint is a mirror finish, the defects would show up more.

Mine and my wife's Jeeps were purchased a week apart. Both have flaws with the paint here or there. Not drastic enough for me to force a fix but I still saw them. Both looked like it has a spots that dripped. Mine has a couple of places that look like dirt is trapped underneath. And dont get me started about the joints of the hard top. You can see the "glue" that holds them together in several places.

Quality as taken a shit across a lot of goods these days. People care less about having pride in the work.
