That sucks to hear that they didnt fix it for 2020. My 2018 has the issue and I tend to live with it since I bought it right when the JLs came out. Like punishment for not waiting a few years for issues to be addressed. Guess that isn't the case.
Great, was hoping it wouldn't involve all of this. I took my Jeep in for oil change plus other issues and mentioned this. The applied grease and said it was fixed. It wasn't. Now to decide if it is even worth pursuing more. I think replacing the door stop is worth a shot but I am not going to...
Thank you for this. Ordering the tape today! I took my Jeep to the dealer and they said there was a Service Bulletin for it to apply silicone to the weatherstripping. I had a quiet ride for a whole 4 hours before it returned! Can't wait to apply this tape.
For what it is worth, I just got my 2018 JL Sahara back from the dealership. Here is a brief history of my steering, wandering and shimmy issues.
5/2018 - bought my jeep and drove it home, was awful, lowered tie pressure to 36 psi from 44 psi and it helped a little
7/2018 - cruise control...
Stock 2015 JKU Sahara to a stock 2018 JLU Sahara - yes, it is worse in the wind and worse in general at speeds above 60 MPH then my JKU was. You will be attacked for saying it. Maybe it is just some of them. All I know is what my experience is and that is the case. When I 1st got it lowering...
I rode with a mechanic from my dealer to show him my death wobble and mentioned this while we were driving to spots I knew the DW would happen. He said that doesnt make sense, it should be the opposite. It's not though, enjoying my JL much better in the winter than the summer from a loose and...
I wish I had. I ended up taking the back off my 2 boys booster seats and using the included belt strap that brings the seat belt lower on their shoulder for the right fit. My 6 year old is now tall enough where he doesn't need that. I am pretty sure if my kids were still in their old 5 point...
Thank you for posting. Perhaps @BestopTeam and/or @JeepCares can weight in on this and tell us exactly how this soft top is supposed to work. What is this phantom 2nd press down click or is bounce the intended way to drive. Most videos I have seen that show how to operate go to the point where...
thank you. For the front suspension list, should I ask my mechanic to check them all or are there certain ones they should focus on - just ball joints?
Does anyone have the spec sheet for the torque numbers?I tried searching and failed. I know I saw it in here. I have a JL Sahara
I think I am going to take it to a local shop and ask if they can check them all for me. I am a bit ignorant to this stuff but I know my dealership lied to me when...
of course.
user @DravenGSX posted this video about him not having bounce while driving
Then I posted this
Then @DravenGSX agreed maybe what he was doing was not the final step that people reference in the manual. This sparked a topic on what is the right way and if this bounce while driving...
Thanks for going back and looking at this. The funny thing is we had a 81 degree day here in Chicago yesterday so I put the top down. For whatever reason mine clicked into that spot easier then when I was recording my video. I still do not think this is intended design but I saw how you could...
I would love to see that when you get the time. Just so I can then show the dealer if mine is in fact not working as it should. Thank you for assisting!
Interesting, so I wonder if something with mine is a little off and makes it very tight when that bar goes behind the rear window supports. I would love to hear others chime in. I showed my wife and she even said "i'd let it bounce before pinching the fabric like that".
Here is my 2nd video to my one above to show how it is to lift it if I do force it down behind there and the bar “clicks”. After I’ve done it a few times it isn’t bending as much but still doesn’t seem right. You can see the marks on the soft top from the pinching.
Okay, I went out and played some more and took a video. I didnt have anyone around to take the video for me. I think your "click" is actually one of the cross bars being "clicked" behind the rear window bottom supports. Is this really what you are supposed to do? When you pull it back up it...
