For the bolt the ball is 1” and the stem is about 1/2” and the bolt is recessed making 2” a good bite make sure you use lock tire on the bolt other wise it can work loose

Post a pic when you get those arms installed. This is looking like a really good option!I’m on my 3rd go round...
1st: I bought some Harley mirrors that someone recommended on here, but the bolts weren’t long enough and didn’t make it through the door hinge in order to get a nut on it.
2nd: I bought the 2 post square mirrors. They shake like shit, but that’s not the part that’s bothered me... they kept folding in. I would tighten them as hard I could, but eventually they would still fold in. Plus, a lot of adjustment was needed.
3rd: thanks to a post on here, I bought Ram ball mounts to try out. I put a male mount into the hood/fender cover (don’t know the technical name) and a female mount on the back of the square mirror from attempt #2. Now I’m just waiting on my 6” Ram ball arms to arrive and see how it goes.
Looks good!Got mine installed today. No worries in scratching paint with screwing bolts in and out. Seems very sturdy . Takes 10 seconds to install
After doing some more driving with them, they do vibrate. It's noticeable depending on the speed and wind. It doesn't bother me too much but I might try adding a rubber bushing to see if it reduces the vibrationwhen your driving at speed do they shake or vibrate ? i had a friend give me a set that mount in the door hinge hole and they shake like heck above 40.
thanks
Awesome. I got my M8’s from Home Depot and they were black already so it all blends.Just ordered:
(2) Ram Mount Balls & (2) Ram Socket Arms - $54.44 incl shipping
(2) Doubletake Enduro Mirrors - $57.75 incl shipping
Still need to buy two M8/1.25 pitch, 50mm socket head cap screws. From what I've read in this thread, the shortest screws that come with the Ram balls are too long (55mm), so I figured 50mm should do it. Ace Hardware near my house has them in stainless steel for less than a buck each.
So all in all, about $110 gets me some sturdy, good-looking mirrors. While I love the Carolina Metal Masters mirrors, this option is less than half the price and look just as good or better in my opinion.
Thanks for the part numbers. Coming from the Adventure/Dual Sport motorcycle world, I'm very familiar with these. Very stable on bikes and should work great on a Jeep.Keep on mind you need to order the ram ball seperately (the included one does not work if you ordered the set). You also need the ram ball arm so there is another $50+ in parts needed. This is all assuming you are putting mirrors on both sides
You need two of these Ram Ball (x2) $10 ea

You also need the Ram Arm (X2) $13 Ea
https://www.amazon.com/Mount-Double...=B000UGZTQO&psc=1&refRID=83CT1NMXFNFE8FX3RWFV
you will also need 2 shorter 8mm x 125 bolts allen (about 2.5" if I remember)
Ace also carries them in Black Chrome which IMO blends better with the black ram ball (that is unless you want the shiny stainless look. the Black makes the ram ball more inconspicuous when stock doors are on.Just ordered:
