And frenzied, over the top rescue responses are not required in the vast majority of instances.
Unfortunately, we don’t know the exact circumstances of the “ rescue” until we’re out there most of the time so we have to respond as if it’s an emergency.

Arizona does have a "STUPID" driver law. It was aimed at the idiots who try to cross a flooded wash/ravine/used-to-be dry river bed, and get stuck requiring rescue. Especially after ignoring the sign posted there "Do not enter when flooded!" Maybe they can use this thing with this guy. One other consideration; "Narrows" & ravines , "slot" canyons, etc, are perfect to drown in during flash floods from storms that are miles away.

This is like the opposite of that "boy that cried wolf" tale

Dude should've been eaten by karma or the trail after the 3rd "help, I'm stuck" emergency call 😂

We can’t all aspire to greatness. Maybe with his skill set (or lack there of) this is his personal Mount Everest, and he won’t let failed attempts stop him. I tried looking up YouTube videos of “The Narrows” near Bullhead City. It looks like a sandy wash with high and very tight canyon walls. Maybe the OP can tell us.
I went looking for it on onX Offroad, no luck.
I believe it is named "Secret Pass Slot Canyon" in OnX from what I can tell.

I agree 100%.

I think the first rescue should always be free, second rescue maybe they have to pay 50%, after that you're 100% liable for all future rescues.

To be fair, they probably never really had to think about such a thing before since there was never anyone dumb enough to need more than 2 rescues before until now.
As a CA resident with the exorbitant amount of taxes I've paid in my life I should be allowed to use the county sheriff as my own personal Uber at this point and have definitely prepaid for several dozen rescues, but I agree doing dumb shit should cost you money.

Whether or not you pay taxes they will still give you a free ride in “special circumstances”. You may not like the restrictions they place on you during transportation or your final accommodations. But you get a colorful jump suit, three meals, a bed, and some interesting roommates.

That ride's never free either...fines, court fees, etc this state always has their hand in your pocket.

There is an insurance for recovery that you can pay for, never used one, but I do carry one. Garmin offers it.

i consider it a life or death situation before I will ever use it.

There are 3 reasons that this is the 4th time this has happened to the same person.

1. He is an idiot.
2. There has been none, zero, consequences for his idiotic decisions.
3. He has not been held financially responsible for the 2nd rescue, 3rd rescue and probably not the 4th.

Probably never going to fix the first problem I listed, but at least 2 and 3 can be brought to his attention.
What? So we should plan and be responsible. That's brand new information.

I'm guessing that joker has cooked up a few tangled tales every time he gets lost for a free helicopter ride. I'm reasonably certain they are probably somewhat interesting to listen too, at least the first 2 times anyways.

Let me give you an example. 👇
I'm sure this one was a real hoot!

I’m kidding of course. Mostly free to the indigent offender who uses a public defender. You are right though, the govt has their hand in the pockets of the honest tax paying citizens.
