The button loops are for rolling up the rear window (without the lower bar). The velcro straps are for wrapping around the soft top metal arms on each side (roughly above the back doors on the JLU) when the top is folded back.

I don’t know if it’s what I’m supposed to do, but my soft top came with an elastic loop that fastens to the soft top from a “button” or snap, maybe? It also came with Velcro straps that don’t quite fit around the top on their own, but I can make a loop with the Velcro and have it looped through the elastic that is snapped to the frame, and then also through the hook that latches in the front.

I’m not doing a good job of describing it, maybe I can take pics later.

I use the short straps to secure the rear seatbelts to the rear bars. As mentioned, the strap with the snap holds the rear window up when the top is up. I fold it inwards once (like a taco).

I like the amazon straps to keep the top lower in the back because I have some crazy freeway interchanges to navigate.

Here’s the best pic I have on hand:

Presumably the tatooed arm is extra?

Here’s what I do. Seems to stay snug.

The video mentioned above (can't remember which thread it's in) shows a guy "locking" his soft top in place by pushing the rear outer corners into the cargo area slightly which wedges it in and prevents bouncing. I have found that this method works perfectly fine for me.
