Does the JL shift knob come off?

Posted below are my SpeedDawg adapters with their Hellayella TC and MT knobs. I took a second to sand off the red paint on the reverse lockout and it looks great in my opinion.

SpeedDawg and B&M have installation instructions on their websites for removal of old knobs and installation of new ones.

I purchased an adapter from Amazon for non threaded shafts and then purchased a leather shifter similar in size to the Original shifter but not as wide. I have to say it shifts much smoother. It sit's slightly higher but is actually more comfortable.

I just ordered the ABD shifter with the jeep willys logo. Will see how it goes. jsut the long lead time to get it paint matched but i dont mind. Ill probably forget i ordered it next month and it will show up LOL

Working on a shift knob project now using an adapter that matches the stepped shift knob profile so there is zero movement and doesn't increase the height like adapters do. Machining the first sample piece this week hopefully. Put a few weeks on the printed version and I prefer this so much to having the shift knob stick up 2" higher with an adapter.

Still retained with set screws, but in a more proper fashion. The factory knob has a V-groove where the OEM snap ring clips into. Using cone point set screws they will center into this V-groove and have the same or better retention than factory (can't just pull it off).

Thanks! Considered briefly, but since my goal was to have a much closer, tighter fit to the stock shifter than the other products the cone-point set screws will be far simpler to implement.

That adapter definitely raises the height of the shift knob, a lot. That was one of the things I disliked about it the most. That, and the exposed set screws that dig into your hand while shifting because of the thin wall material that is tapped.
