Changed shift knob now the shift rod is stuck!!

Installed the new B&M handles which I have done on my last few JL’s. This time though the orange/ yellow rod that springs up and down with the button gets stuck in the rod. So I literally have to pry it up with a knife to get it to pop up again. Not sure how to get the rod out to see if something is jammed or twisted. Or if something else would cause that issue. Removed the handle completely and it still gets stuck in there.

I just had the same thing happen to me. Were you able to fix this yourself or did you have to take it to a dealer? If you did it yourself how did you get the yellow piece unstuck and working again? I cannot get my yellow piece to pop up at all. Any help is much appreciated, thank you!
