Is that because you’ve made modifications? I’m just wondering if this would be a problem in a stock Jeep. I’d hope they are set correctly during production.
Even stock it was happening.
I saw a few videos talking about the headlights being adjusted improperly from the factory. True or false I don’t know, but I adjusted down all the same.

I have noticed a lot of newer vehicles have crazy bright headlights.

Happens basically every time I drive at night. FWIW I have stock tires but spacer lift. The look on their faces when I flash them back. Lots of squinting.

The headlight regulations haven’t changed a wit in decades in North America. Beam patterns and aiming are stuck in the 1970s sealed beam era.

Add brighter lighting systems and poorly aimed lights from the factory, there is lots of glare and people thinking we have high beams on.

Try driving a Cadillac Escalade. I get flashed about every 3rd approaching car. I literally drive with my hand on the high beam stick so I can flash them back.

I had no issues with stock Sport hals, upgraded to Oracle LEDs and also had no issues. I cranked them a little higher since it seemed dark to me on-road and got a spate of flashes on my way home in the dark the next morning. Dropped them down about an inch and haven't had any more complaints.

As I reported in another past thread, I determined that my 2018's headlights were improperly aimed at the factory: the low beams were aimed level, when they should have been dipped somewhat. That was revealed by high beams aiming into the trees!

Level is high beam territory, not suitable for low beams! It's no wonder people were flashing me!

I found some old specs for aiming aftermarket headlights against a tape-marked garage door, fixed the dip, and no complaints since.

I believe that our LED headlights are fixed as to high vs. low beam. Mis-aim one, you mis-aim both. A looonng hex wrench was needed to properly aim the low beams, which in turn corrected the high beams.

I hope that these are older (2018+) JL models being discussed, i.e., that the factory hasn't gone back to its incorrect aiming ways...All it would take is one technician on one shift, day after day, week after week, to mess up a lot of headlights...

Good luck out there!

no.

but i made the effort to adjust my headlights properly after i did my suspension mods.

and i would expect that i would need to adjust them again if towing.

this is one of those things i like to get right; i don't need oncoming drivers to be any more impaired than they already are.

By oncoming drivers that believe your high beams are on?

When I'm towing at night, very rarely, it's worse.

We were getting flashed often. I found some videos on YouTube that showed how to adjust JL headlights and did the adjustment procedure. I found that the drivers side headlight was higher than it should be and the passenger headlight was just a little high. It was quite simple to do and have not gotten flashed since with the exception of cresting a hill which you really can’t do much about.
Which video/procedure did you use? I just got my jeep lifted and I want to ensure proper headlight angles.

I used to get flashed frequently. It only take about 30 seconds per side to adjust the headlights down a little. I readjusted mine, and no problems since.

That video in post 29 could win the Rube Goldberg award for the worlds most difficult way to adjust headlights. It's not that complicated. Just turn the adjustment screw 2 turns downward, and take it for a drive. You might need to make another adjustment, but it takes less than a minute to do it, so no big deal.
