Evergreen:... So, why be so dishonest about something that their customer can verify so Easly? I highly doubt I will ever use this dealer again because I don't feel their trustworthy.
OK if you can somehow generate a "Karen" attitude, here is what you do. Go into the dealership on a Saturday afternoon. Inquire about your refund and if they do not give it to you, go out into the showroom area and start very loudly voicing your displeasure with the fact that the dealership will not issue you the refund you are due. Make sure to let them know the amount and all the details. Very loudly let everybody that is considering purchasing a vehicle from them about the issues you have been having getting the money that you are due from the dealership. Make sure everybody inside the dealership knows about your problem. Maybe advise them that if they want an extended warranty, that they should buy it from somebody other then the dealership. See if that can help your refund along...I thought I would share my recent ongoing issue with my local dealer. In Early FEB I sold my previous JL and cancelled my extended warranty. This allowed me to get a refund of 3k dollars. On March 8 I called the dealer asking if my refund had showed up. They told me it could take 8-9 weeks for them to receive the refund. So Friday I decided to call the company who the extended warranty was purchased through and ask for an explanation why the refund process is so long. They informed me the refund was issued to the dealership on March 4. I go visit the dealership that day but say nothing about talking to the insurance company before i hear what they have to say. Again I get the 8-9 week excuse and that's when i tell them i had already spoke with the insurance company and knew what date they issued the refund to them. He starts trying to make more excuses and now it's clear to me this guy has no idea what's going on and he is the finance manager. So i'm suppose the hear from him next week. We'll see what he says. So, why be so dishonest about something that their customer can verify so Easly? I highly doubt I will ever use this dealer again because I don't feel their trustworthy.
The sad truth is that deception, dishonesty, and outright fraud, is rampant in the auto industry, especially in the repair end. I hate that it's that way, because I'm getting to the point in age and available assets to where I would like to have my vehicles (not the jeep so much) serviced by a trustworthy business.Evergreen:

What bugs me the most and it's not the refund wait time, it's their answers. If asking a question and they don't know the answer don't make up excuses. Just say, I don't know but I will find out. It's that's simple for me. Feeling like I'm being spoken to honestly goes a long ways. The sad truth is that deception, dishonesty, and outright fraud, is rampant in the auto industry, especially in the repair end. They don't understand the concept of "honesty" in the first place so they are unable to comprehend the idea of it.What bugs me the most and it's not the refund wait time, it's their answers. Insurance companies also do this very thing, via dragging their feet on the disbursement of claims payment checks. Voice of experience here, both as a claimant and as the husband of a State Farm office manager (who had no say in company policy on the matter.)Many businesses have an account where things like this are deposited, its flow thru money. What the dealer wants to do is keep for 30 days ore more if possible.
WHY? 30 day money gets credited with %. Dealer could have 100k in flow thru and gets $1000 bucks credited to the account every 30 days...big dealers do that...
A salient reminder that we should acclimate ourselves with the Funds Availability policy of our bank or credit union.Sold a house back in the 90s with the intention of using some of the money partying my way through Central America,
...money showed up in my back account ok, but the bank had a 30 day hold on it, I went to the branch, and asked WTF, they reluctantly released a tiny chunk of it that day.

I learned a similar lesson in the early aughts after wanting to withdraw some of the sweet, five-figure proceeds from the recent sale of our house. As I had rarely played in the deep end of that particular pool, I learned pretty quickly that I'd have a little wait before having access to the full whack.
My guess? The $ are deposited to earn interest for the dealership.I thought I would share my recent ongoing issue with my local dealer.
