As I have discussed in prior post I have feared the day that I would need to bring my JLUR in to my local NY dealership for issues. I recently brought my wife’s truck in for the blue screen reverse camera issue and was pleasantly surprised how they jumped on this, but this first time visit was initiated by Jeep care’s so I attribute this to them. My wife’s truck was brought in this morning as the camera and harness has come in and I recently was informed by my wife that the truck is beginning to wander again. Friday we decided to take a trip out to the Hamptons so I drove and clearly felt something wasn’t right. I have an extensive automotive background and owned my own repair/tire facility for many years so I immediately went to work! First of the BFG’s are feathering very bad and I’m at only 1600 miles so I made the svc advisor aware of the tire and wandering issue, I also found it prudent that he have the alignment checked and provide me with a print out. Well spoke with Eric at 5 pm and was advised my Jeep was done no alignment checked and the tire wear issue was normal for these tires! And to add insult to injury they didn’t even rotate them. I will be having a one on one meeting with the svc manager in the AM and hopefully he will take this issue seriously.

Service managers that think people are stupid have no right working in that position! We have all been made aware of steering issues with the JL so when a tech gets a complaint that the truck is starting to have issues and then Clearly sees front tires with only 1600 miles suffering from feathering issues it’s time to take every precaution in solving the issue! Claiming you road tested it and the alignment is within specs is an oxymoron because when you didn’t put it on a rack how did you establish the specs?

On a rear wheel drive vehicle like the JL, the front of your front wheels will sit slightly closer together than the rear ("toe-in") This is purposefully done to help your front wheels to become parallel as they pull apart from each other during forward movement.

On your Jeep, unless you’ve installed new aftermarket components such as an adjustable track bar and/or adjustable control arms, there really isn’t a whole lot a shop can to other than recenter your steering wheel.

Your toe in/out can be adjusted at the track bar but if that isn’t the issue there’s really nothing else that can be adjusted.

And if they would have atleast checked the alignment we would know for sure! Just the fact they didn’t even rotate them tells the whole story. Also, many others have the same tires with no issues so this isn’t normal.

All service managers are all playing games with all the customers . Now that you have discovered that obvious truth , it might be time to find a competent independent alignment shop which specializes in alignments , and get an unbiased opinion .

Jeep care’s provided me with an alignment and the toe in was a little off! We haven’t been able to give it a good road test as we are entertaining out of town guest while on vacation. The tire rotation alone actually made the Jeep wonder less so I’m guessing the slight uneven tire wear added to the problem. Jeep care’s calls atleast once a week and said they will resolve any and all issues until my wife is confident driving on the highway. Our service manager has done a 180 and has also dedicated his time in solving every issue! Hopefully we will be able to resolve these issues and move on to our grill! Yes, that’s right it has in fact started to turn slightly yellow. For now, one issue at a time. One thing I will say, the JL is light years ahead of my previous jeeps, and my wife loves it.

I wouldn't trust him as far as I can throw him , and I'd still get an unbiased independent opinion , if it were me .
