I've been tracking my MPGs from fill-ups at the pump the last 5 tanks of fuel. I've noticed that after driving almost 50,000 mi on my ECODIESEL Wrangler, the dash almost exactly matches the numbers I'm getting at the pump. Always within 0.2 to 0.5 MPGs accuracy. Close enough that there's no point in calculating at the pump anymore.

So with this knowledge, here is My most recent MPG run at this point (Just filled up this morning, only a few miles in):

Jeep Wrangler JL Dash MPGs MORE ACCURATE with TIME 1000007949

This photo is taken inside the community I live in, where the speed limit is 30. That's why you see the cruise control set to 28. I'm not sure what's up with that white line over my mileage driven 🤷‍♂️ The dash has a lot of grease smudges on it, so I'm guessing that's what it is. I just cleaned it off so hopefully future pictures don't come out looking like that.

I'll be posting in here my mileage as I go along. But yeah, ridiculously and strangely accurate. Looking forward to record breaking numbers for a Wrangler with my EcoDiesel, which I always get, because the EcoDiesel is the BEST ENGINE OPTION!

I used to record every single fill up on a spreadsheet. Too old for that now.

Ecodiesel - wish it came in a manual. I’d have opted for that, for sure!

You're thinking Jeep is capable of making a decent manual that can handle the torque of an EcoDiesel?

They need to make the call of shame and ask Daimler for help again. At least some good hardware came out of that partnership.

The same seems to be happening on my JK. It was nearly 1 mpg off when I got it and now about .2 when I fill up. The previous owner almost never reset the dash computer when filling. I'm getting 17.5 to 19 in town with 35's and 3 inch lift on a 3.6. But then again, I kinda drive like a 90 year old cancer patient!

Note that any approach that uses your odometer will be off if your tires and/or gears don't match what the computer thinks they are.
Agreed. When I do end up getting my 37s on here, I'll probably try another attempt of resetting the tire size on the computer with a J-Scan tool. Only downside being if it doesn't work, I'll be in anti-theft mode and we'll have to disconnect the battery for another 2 hours. 😓

We'll see what happens.
