Spray the drum with some vinegar and scrub it with a scotch brite pad. Paint it with self etching primer and then a gloss paint of your preference.

Definite improvement! Hopefully the T-9 will help prevent, or at least slow, future oxidation.Decided to see if I could get some access… got after it with vinegar and scotchbrite pad… then sprayed some BoeShield T9 on it and wiped it down. It’s not perfect but good enough. I will check back in another year or more.

Does the t9 put a coating on it at all? I would try to coat it with something to hopefully seal it before spooling it back up.Decided to see if I could get some access… got after it with vinegar and scotchbrite pad… then sprayed some BoeShield T9 on it and wiped it down. It’s not perfect but good enough. I will check back in another year or more.

I'll look at yours if you look at mine.Great work. Looks much better now.
I almost do not want to look at mine.![]()
Here is the reply from Warn CS…Definitely thick corrosion on the drum. Fairlead seems to have some kind of seal coating and the oxidation is underneath.
Still shocked at the amount. I have an email into Warn.
