Paint match after corrosion fix

Looking for a little input... I have a 2020 JLU - and it had some corrosion - so I took it to a local dealer and they replaced all 4 doors, the hood and tailgate hinges.

When I went to pick it up - the color didnt match - it was noticably off from the new panels to the body...so they kept it to redo the paint.

Now when I picked it up this time - 95% matched - but for some reason they masked along the line near the gas cap and didn't paint the rear corner of the tub - I can see a slight difference - not sure if it will stand out to others... not to mention - when the tape was peeled - it took off some clear near the bumper.

In fairness to them - they kept it again and are trying to remedy the problem AND I was told that the Granite Crystal color is probably the hardest to match.

How picky should I be?

It looked like a brand new Jeep when I dropped it off - now the fenders are loose, the soft top is out of its track and the finish of the metal bumper is dull - like thinner was spilled on it.

I would not accept that. They’re using the cheapest body shop or if they do their own, the least trained.

Fun fact whenever a body shop can't get a color right they always tell you that whatever color it is is one of the hardest ones to match. It's not difficult they just have to put a little effort into it.


And in fairness to them when I had my hardtop paint matched to my Jeep we had to pick something to paint match it too because in all honesty the hood the doors the tub are all slightly different shades of sting-gray... So the top was paint matched to the driver door which means it's just a little bit off to everything else.

I worked at a body shop doing motorcycles and small repairs - and some colors are actually hard to match - especially metallic...it never blends right - you have to do a whole panel minimum.

I told them that I repainted things for customers that looked better than this because the match was off...

I've never done it myself professionally but I've had enough vehicles painted to know that every damn paint shop complains about something. I've had major paint work done voluntarily on three different vehicles, all three different colors.

I’m saving my complaints for the future. I went in knowing they can’t match crystal granite. Mine was off a little I’m not complaining because if my doors paint starts bubbling again in the next 1-2 years we will be meeting again. Hope it takes. My doors came back lighter needing red and black.

Dealer working on getting some door hinge corrosion corrected. Stellantis is throwing bs into the approval process. Requested the dealer send better pictures because all they saw was water on the paint. Then said to get the area in question sanded and pictures taken to show the corrosion etc. Don't the person who is making this decision realize that if you do that you will still have to repaint the hinges and door? Who hired this person? I can see the corrosion why can't they. If jeep cares is reading this you need to find out what's going on at the approval level at stellantis for corrosion. The tsb is out there since 2023. I will attache a photo and try to make it large enough for a person to see. Now I'm waiting on an appointment to take the jeep to the body shop to get this bs done. I did not have this problem with the hood they just replaced it.
