Paint - No not another corrosion thread

I bought my Jeep used a few years back, after taking it out on the trails the first few times I immediately pulled out the paint correction kit assuming that the desert pin stripes were plentiful. To my surprise there were none despite the highspeed bush whacking earlier in the day. After 2 years of trails the desert still hasn't left it's mark. This isn't the case with my other trucks that I've run on the same trails; they look like a crazy girlfriend caught me cheating after a day on the trails.

So is Jeep paint really that superior? I know there are the corrosion issues and all but has anyone else's paint avoided pinstripes too?

Seems like your escapades have not been dramatic enough to damage the paint. I assume the paint is automotive paint, which is pretty impressive stuff to withstand the sun and weather.

I never had paint get taken off on the trail, but a crap ton of tree branch transfer/clear coat scratches that a quick buff took off

Strong assumption coming from someone with a stock Jeep pictured parked in the garage.

Up in the PNW where I do all my off road exploration, the predominant trail scrub are crowded, small fir and cedar trees. Most of what rubs the side of my Jeep are soft and fluffy.

Across five different Jeep vehicles since 2018, I've never once had a scratch that wouldn't buff out with a simple wash. If anything, I find the fir and cedar trees here "clean off" mud and dirt, revealing clean paint underneath (that looks like a scratch until I wash up)

We took the R1S out on the same trail I run in my JL and came back with two deep scratches. Part of the issue is the R1S is much wider. Most folks also think the Rivian paint generally sucks.

Maybe the damage doesn't show up as much on white?

I took mine into some nasty brush during its first week. Scratched the crap out of it. Haven't been concerned about pinstripes since. It's quite liberating after spending so many years driving sports cars that needed to be kept pristine.

Metallic paint has always withstood scratches very well in my experience

Jeep clear coat is considered to be on the harder side. I think that that is benefiting you in this circumstance
