I Drive a 2018 3.6 JLUR and am hearing this sound every time I engage and disengage the clutch pedal. The trans seems to shift fine but the sound is very concerning to me. Has anyone ever heard a sound like this before?

Any and all advice on what it could be is appreciated

I've had 3 manual JLs, and have never noticed this on any of them.

Nope, I haven't got a clue what that would be.

As for recommendations, the only thing that I can think of is to take a look at the slave cylinder and see if the rubber boot is messed up.

My 2019 would do this periodically. The clutch system probably needs to be bled. Bleeding the system thoroughly would usually solve it. Does the pedal travel feel rough or gritty?

It feels slightly gritty, yes

Do I have a bleed valve? how is this done?

I’d start with a bleed. It’s not a difficult process but it needs to be thorough. Most shops/dealerships will want to rush through it and it won’t make any difference. If you do take it to a shop I’d probably take it to a dealership and reiterate that it needs to be done thoroughly.

I did have this noise once and the dealership said that the entire pedal assembly needed to be replaced. Kind of a big job because they have to pull the entire dash. It was covered under warranty in my case. However I’m not entirely sure that was the actual problem because that procedure also includes a bleed of the hydraulics.

After that I’d perform bleeds at every oil change and it would always make the pedal much quieter and smoother.

I can bleed it myself I am sure, but this is one of the few things I have never done when it comes to cars. Do I have a bleed valve? is there a video or guide on how to do this that you can reference me too by any chance?

That sounds exactly how my good old YJ clutch has always sounded, and I honestly wouldn't think anything of it if my JL made the same sound.

I guess you could climb under there while someone else operates the clutch and try to pinpoint exactly where the sound is coming from.

I almost 100% something around the fork is dried out. I am thinking my best course of action is to remove the slave enough to where I can spray grease into the hole and lubricate those parts.
