Climate control (gotta rant)

I just went from a Rubicon to a Sport. I LOVE the more basic climate control. I forgot how much I hated my Rubicon went from 60 to “Lo”. I vastly prefer the idea of setting my air temp in relation to ambient temps. I went to college in the U.P. so I’m fine in the cold, but my Wrangler would freak out below 40 and go either full heat or full non-AC cold, there was no nuance. With the new Sport, I was able to cruise around with the top down in 50 and mild heat on. My Rubicon would have freaked out and gone full heat, forcing me to turn the fan down to 1 and hope it wasn’t too much.

Sounds like you were using the "Auto" mode on the Rubi? Yeah, I never use that on my Rubi. I just set it all where I want it, which is what it sounds like you have to do on a Sport?

So since "Auto" mode is optional to use on the Rubi, not sure about the basis of your rant. You could have remedied that without downgrading.

Probably right, 18 months and I never found that option. It drove me nuts in cold weather. I also can’t turn off a target temp in my wife’s truck, I thought manufacturers just didn’t like us thick blooded individuals.

My Rubicon has never done that, but I've never used the auto mode. I'll have to give it a try and see if it's the same way yours is in auto mode.

It's easy to turn off the Auto mode, you just press the Auto button if it is ON. My wife's Recon has Auto climate but she never uses that feature, always in manual mode.

It sounds like there was something wrong with the climate control in your Jeep. As I mentioned, my wife's 2020 Rubicon Recon has the Auto climate control and she never has any problem configuring the temp and fan speed manually.

I have a Sport S with the 5’ screen. Outside of the clock losing a minute every week, the interior is honestly perfect. It’s modern while still being completely functional and not overly technological.

I beg to differ. My Rubicon went nuclear meltdown heat set to 60 in sub-40 degree weather. But if you set it to “Lo” it would pump in ambient air. So my choices were freezing with seat heaters, or sweating like a Finnish sauna. I found neither pleasant.
In my sport, much easier to coax mild heat out of it to take the sting off of mild cold of PNW “winter”.

Mine’s a weird paradox. Manual locks/windows, but A/C, cruise control, push button start, and Apple Carplay. Every time I get in it I find myself holding the key looking for the ignition.

I'm guessing something wrong with your rubi auto temp setting. I use auto almost always and it works great down to about 20F that I've been in.

Well, it’s a dealer’s problem now if something is wrong!
I suspect it’s an issue of my personal preferences not being compatible with the controls.

I too must be in the minority as I LOVE the auto climate control in my Sahara. It keeps the temperature very comfortable when I set it around 72 degrees even when the outside temp is -22.

I actually hated the vehicles where I had to try, and try and try to find that sweet spot between the blue and the red location on the selector for the heat or the cool.

Too cold? I bump the temp up a couple of degrees. Too warm? I bump the temp down a couple of degrees.

Of course, I opened the Sky One Touch top today when it hit 37 degrees, an actual heat wave compared to the last few weeks so heat is relative. And cooling is optional.

Love love love the Auto setting in my Rubicon. Currently have the temp at 68 and it does the rest. I have no doubt when I go topless the Auto setting will struggle, but as others have shared i will turn Auto off and set temp, fan and vents as desired based on current conditions
