not sure if anyone knows if an order can be changed. Only went in a few days ago but I added remote start and now realize that for just $100 more I should have added cold weather group and get the heated seats and steering wheel. For some reason I thought it was a long more but for $100 difference I don’t know why anyone would ever just get the remote start unless an oversight (like me). Anyway, does anyone know how painful it would be to try and get it changed? Again the order only went in a couple days ago.

You can make changes until you hit D1. The dealer may tell you no, but if he can’t do it on the computer he can email his rep and do it. Not a problem

May be a dumb question but what is D1?

I think if it's been issued a VIN it's done, no changes can be made.

I tried to add proximity to mine and couldn't, I've been in D for 3 weeks. The D1 status theory is a bust. I think as mentioned previously once it's got a VIN it's locked in.

Edit: just saw wired post, must just be a timeline thing then...Friday was exactly 3 weeks for me and I tried to add proximity then.

It can be changed in D status. My dealer emailed his rep at fcagroup.com and removed the upgraded wheels on my Rubi on 12/14. Here is the screen shot of an email he sent my dealer back to show that he had made the change. Note that the VIN and the D status is noted on the screen shot. Your dealer needs to try harder.

Well my Jeep has already got a VIN so apparently not easy to change. I will say I am not worried about it though as I just realized it is actually more of a difference in cost for the remote start and cold weather package when doing the build on an automatic so I could prob push for it with a rep etc. but since i am getting seat covers and in Louisiana it is not something I need at all.

Cheers.

It's all about your rep and dealer. After a very short time your dealer can't make changes. He couldn't make it a week after I ordered but the rep made the changes no problem. I made changes again about 4 weeks after I ordered and the rep still had no problems adjusting. Ask the dealer to check with the rep. Also, I've been in D since I ordered in the beginning of December and I've had a VIN since 3 days after I ordered. D1 means it is scheduled for starting down the line. I saw one post on here when a vehicle was on the line and a person was still able to have changes made with the right rep working to make the modification.

I'm hoping Sting Grey is open soon and I'll be able to flip my order! My dealer has been pretty cool so I'm sure they would do what's necessary to make it happen for me. If not I'll be happy to have my White!

YES you can change after VIN. I ordered 1-11-18 and today 3-30-18 I added 3 options. I had the VIN 1-15-18.
All these threads are confusing. I called my dealer and asked him to contact Jeep Rep to add 3 options.
All that I have read here I didn't have much hope but I have a great dealer and yes he did make it happen. No VIN change and it was not a reorder.
Done now , sit back and wait for my Rubi to come

You can change but like everyone said you are at the mercy of the dealer and rep. I have had been trying to change my top for 3 weeks and they haven't done anything and have now moved to D1, supposedly they are still "trying".

It took 1 day. Yes I tried and didn't think it was possible. I have a great dealer. He really pulled through for me.
We have bought 3 new Jeeps from him.
He has already sent me the price difference I owe.

My dealer is either lazy or doesn't know. Unfortunately, I just grabbed a Fiat sales woman off the lot when I placed my order so she's not a wrangler person. I'm hopping they can make the changes I want.

Send or take this thread response when you talk to them again :

My understanding is that the FCA order system locks the ability for dealerships to make changes to a booked order once your vehicle reaches D status and a VIN is assigned. The new car manager at my dealership showed me my D status 2dr Rubicon order on screen when I asked to make changes and all of the data entry fields were grayed out. He explained this was why he could not make my requested change.

But, here’s the good news. I PM’d Jeep Cares on this forum asking if there is any way FCA could make a change to a booked order, and the answer is yes. The new car manager can contact his FCA rep who has the authority to modify the order as long as you are not in D1 status. This was news to my manager, but he agreed to try it and it worked.

I’ve now been back twice with changes as I’ve sat at D for the past 75 days. The first was six weeks ago to change the color from Billet Silver to Bright White and add leather seats and LED lights. Then, three weeks ago, I added proximity keyless entry. In both cases, I received an updated Priced Order Confirmation printout two days later that shows my new configuration and that my order date, VON and VIN remains unchanged.

To me, it’s obvious that the 2dr production delays are part of an FCA conspiracy to keep me adding to my order and that they are holding me at D status until I have booked every possible option.
