Thanks for the info. He did say he will contact his Rep. I have a great Dealer we have bought 3 new Jeeps there. I did give him that post to show him others have done so.

The order absolutely can be changed after the VIN is assigned since I've done it twice now and have the paperwork from FCA to prove that my VIN, VON and order date have not changed. I posted the details on how this is done here:

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/changing-my-order.5924/page-2#post-125631

In short, if your dealer says they can't do it, tell them to contact their FCA rep because those reps most definitely can.

It's getting close enough to production that they may come back and say it can't be done because you have moved to D1. If that happens, I'd celebrate that you could be getting an early build since you say you could live with your original order regardless.
YES!! thanks to all of you for your help. My dealer DID add 3 options to my order today!! It can be done after VIN.
I ordered 1-11-18 and I added options 3-30-18 !! I now will get the Rubi fully loaded as I want. Thanks again to all
that informed me in the proper way.

I may have an answer on this soon. I tried changing myorder on day 2. I did not realize AUX buttons were not standard, so I asked to add the tow package 1 day after VIN was assigned.

I have gotten many "From what we know, it was added" answers from the dealer. I can also attest that it isn't on my build sheet from the build sheet tracker. It also does not show up on the dealer's website. My vehicle with my VIN shows there, w/o the package.

My salesman still contends it was added. No window sticker is yet available.

As my estimated delivery date approaches, I am torn between putting faith in the dealership who say it was added and the tracking systems that have let folks down day after day and have proven to be incorrect quite often.

I am betting that the "Can't change after VIN" statement is probably correct and have already resigned myself to this thought as well as started making contingency plans to add AUX buttons later.

Regardless, sometime between 3/30 and 4/3 (provided the tracking info is correct), I can weigh in on this question with corroborative evidence. I will let you know what I find.
Well, my order was not changed. When my Jeep arrived, the package was not added, but I was able to have the dealership install the switches for me. I covered part, they covered labor. Mopar even had the part on sale that day on their website, so it only cost me $261.

I would still be pissed, as the tow package includes a 240 amp alternator, a 700 amp battery the mopar tow hitch with wiring and the switches, for less than $500 more. If you're not planning on towing, nbd, but if my dealer kept telling me it was included and wouldn't look into changing the order before it went D1, I would be rather put out.

If your dealer stuck to the no change after VIN statement, then they lied to you, as many, many here have made multiple changes after VIN. If they didn't lie, then they're incompetent. You decide which is worse.

Take your pick on the multiple choice, I'll take the fifth.

I also didn't feel the need to press the issue since I merely wanted AUX Switches and didn't need the rest of the package. I could have certainly made a bigger case about it and cried foul. Life is too short to get my blood pressure up needlessly these days.

In the end, I got the switches, paid less than expected for them, and they were installed before I even picked the vehicle up.

Is there a way to check the status with the VIN without contacting the dealer?

Good news, I changed my order in D status!
I ordered back on 12/15.
Bad news, my new price sheet lists the increased base price and delivery charge.

Not really sure how I should be feeling right now, I regret making the change by adding steel bumpers if its really a ~2000 bump versus the ~1000 i was expecting...

I already had the LED lights, the 2000 was from the bump in the base price and the bump in delivery which wasnt there originally.

Can anyone who was successful getting your dealer to contact their FCA rep to change an order please post their dealer's name and sales person's name? My dealer can't get their FCA rep to respond (not just to my situation, to anyone). I need a work around here. Trying to get another dealership to pull a favor. My sales guy is willing to talk to another salesperson to contact their FCA rep to update the order that is in D status.

Reason for the order change: Jeep.com chat said my order is stuck in D status because I have the dualtop option until mid-May because I have 2 tops on my order. If I change it to hardtop, then it will go to D1 status now. They said mid-April 2 weeks ago and it already changed to mid-May due to soft top shortages.

No dealer is going to play in your dealers playground. I cannot imagine a dealer not being able to get in touch with their FCA rep. Maybe this does happen. Either way do you want to do business with a dealer that cannot get a response from his rep? If the dealer is lying and really does not want to change the order by contacting the rep do you want to give him your business?

You are the consumer and you have the power in this situation. You can simply go to another dealer and order with the options you want. Jeep chat also does not hold a lot of weight. People get conflicting information and post about it on this forum every day. So you have two choices. Wait it out and hope it comes sooner or go to another dealer and place an order. Even with a new order you may still be waiting until May simply because they are overwhelmed with orders and shipping is all backed up.
