hey all,

I've been thinking more and more about modifying my jeep, so I've come up with a list of things id like to do to it

any suggestions/recommendations for brands or mods are more than welcome

this is for a 2023 willys sport 2d

Mopar steel bumpers front/rear
warn 10k winch
oxlocks diff locks F/R (manual?)
35" tires
rubi high fenders+ flares
Rubi springs for 1.5" lift
mopar AUX switch bank
Quick swaybar disconnect
proper frame mounted rock sliders (I have the rubi body mounted ones)
full size skid plate (metalcloak?)

along with any regearing/additional accessories to make the above possible

also what would be the best order to do the mods in?

in what sense?
John is asking how you intend to use your Jeep, for what purposes. On-road only, on-road and mild, moderate, or advanced off-road trails, rock crawling, etc.

With a steel bumper and a winch, you will be nose heavy. Add a 3/4 spacer for the front.

The Mopar steel bumpers are very pricey, and the rear one is notoriously weak. You may want to consider some aftermarket alternatives.

Are you also considering aftermarket wheels?

Since you are considering new gears, which engine/transmission do you have?

ah, my idea was a "safari" type build, very little rock crawling, but still possible if I need too

sort of an australian type offroader

ive got a buddy that wants to try and make a tray for the back half of a 2door

I really don't like any bumpers out there, how they are all fabricated and angular, the pressed steel is super attractive to me, maybe ill look at an alternative to the rear then. what is weak about it?

i've got a 3.6 auto

for aftermarket wheels, I was thinking beadlocks, but I don't want too much spacing, less stress on the steering mech, maybe ill go to wider axels once i've trashed the stock ones

If possible Id like to avoid spacers, but if I have too ill do it

The way it mounts makes it weak, it will hit the tub if you drop it on a rock ledge. Also, the LP mount is a plastic insert, with a large hole in the bumper behind it. Metalcloak sells some reinforcement brackets, that are actually for their rack system, that some say helps with the bumper hitting the tub issue.

As far as a try like the one above. The 2 door wheelbase is way to stubby for that to look right, or be useful. Cutting the back of the body away on a 4 door, like that Landcruiser above, would make for a better looking, and more useful build.

For your front, with a steel bumper and 10k winch, you could also consider some 392 front springs, which would have a higher spring rate to account for the extra weight.

Not sure what your purpose/usage is for the rig. Without that, it's a tough one to answer. You're already talking axles, but haven't even ventured into the basic mods. Be careful of mods as they lead you down a rabbit hole, ask me how I know lol.

Also, make sure you are absolutely sure of what you're buying now, vs what you may want in the future. I tell all the people I know generally to take more time to really understand what works, what they are trying to accomplish, and that takes a lot of seat time. Otherwise, you end up buying again down the road.

For the sway bar disconnect, too bad you don't live near me as I have 2 from my current and previous rubicons sitting in my garage. If you can source one locally for cheap or free, just purchase this:

its going to still be my daily driver so I don't want to jack it up like crazy, im mostly going to be using it in mud/sand and super rutted/washed out roads. there will be rocks as I live on the Canadian shield, but no crazy rock crawling

i like the idea of the rubi take off swaybar, but taking off the swaybar disconnects is more what I'm looking for

heres some pictures of trails where I am (I didn't take them)

I wanted my sport s to be capable without breaking the bank.
2020 2 door 2.0t
Rubicon recon suspension = 2.5" lift
Bilstien 1500 shocks
Rugged Ridge Venator bumper
HF 12k lb Badland winch
Apex auto LYNX sway bar disconnects
Baja Boss 285/70 a/t tires
Firewall mounted ARB single
Barricade Enhanced Rubi Rails
Mifland mtx275 gmrs radio

I've run up to 6 rated trails without issue - without lockers mind you. The BLD works amazingly well with the automatic and a little extra care over lines and tire placement.

It's also my daily driver and work truck. It's nicely balanced for both on and off road needs...

stock tire size? that looks good!

there is tonnes of mud and loose climbs here so lockers are fairly high on my list

Yeah, for the mud you're going to want lockers. The Baja Boss also comes in a much more agressive M/T that is also very well liked.

The auto LYNX disconnects are pricy, but for the mud you'd love them! A quick turn of a knob and you're locked/unlocked and the reviews have said they hold up fantatic in the mud.

I’ve got the Firestone mt2, my jeep came with bfg km2s and I like the mts much better

I’ve read the lynx disconnects don’t give you the 100% articulation that disconnecting your links does, is that true?

The auto Lynx does work great, had it on my JTM, and very easy to use. If you do not go this route, be prepared to be muscling around the rig at times trying to reconnect the end links.

The factory sway bar off a rubicon can or should be found cheap, with that additional piece from EVO which makes it a breeze as well to disconnect. Hated the electronic disconnect due to auto reconnecting at speed and also "the flop", so the antirock suits my needs.
