My 2023 Sport S (2-door) has the OEM 17" 245/75-17 Michelin LTX M/S2 tires. (no lift)They handle well, very quiet, on the road and have been pretty good on the beach/sand (air'ed down). I am looking for suggestions on possible replacements that would be even better on the beach, and most likely be better in the occasional snow we get on Cape Cod, and very good on road dry/wet - while being as close to as quiet on the road as my current Michelins. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

(FYI - Tire Rack suggested The Falken Wild Peak AT3 or the Toyo Open Country tire)

The above recommendations are good. Also look at,
BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2
Firestone Destination AT2
Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3
Yokohama Geolandar AT G015
Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus
Hankook DynaPro AT2
Kumho Road Venture AT52

All of those will be fairly quiet on the road and great on the beach. You can even go to wider or slightly taller sizes with no lift needed. Sizes to also look at would be 255/75R17, 275/70R17 and 285/70R17. Make sure to avoid load range E, which will tend to ride more rough/harsh.

The most cost effective thing you can do is look through your local Classifieds and find someone looking to get rid of their BFG KO2 takeoffs from a Rubicon (285/70R17). You can usually get them at a great price. They will give you great float on sand and are very behaved on the highway. Also 3PMSF.

I'd keep what you have. All terrain tires are going to be worse on the beach -- for sand, you want contact area and flotation, and you're not trying to pull yourself over rocks. Unless you have paddle tires, the name of the game is large and smooth. Highway tread aired down is best.

Thanks...your thought was one that I had when ordering my JL. One of the reasons I went with the Michelin/road tire vs. AT when ordering my Jeep was reading that the less aggressive tread pattern (on road tire), air'ed down, was best on the beach instead of "digging in" the sand with AT tires. The only off road driving I will do is on the beach, and I am thinking/hoping the OEM tire then would also handle the amount of snow we get here on the Cape?

I enjoy reading everything & learning in this forum...Some have put the bug in my ear to change tires, as it seems to be so much fun to add stuff to ones Jeep, hence my exploration of tire options. Thanks to all for the helpful info!

But the 1.5" wider contact area of AT KO2 takeoffs will be much more effective than AT vs Highway tread. AT tread in sand is still good. MT is what you don't want in sand, it tends to dig.

The KO2 is about as good a tire as you'll get in snow without swapping to a true winter tire (which are night & day better but can only be used in temps below 45F).

Agree about the extra width but if I were OP I'd just get a wider highway tire. Best all-season for snow (since that's a concern) that he can find, and air it down on the beach.

I have the same tires on my Sport S as you and I use it on the beach also. They do fine on our local beaches which are not quite as soft as the Cape Cod beaches. Our beaches do have some soft areas but are more granular. I am in the same boat as you in trying to decide on what tires to get. My tires will need replacing in a while and I am leaning on a tire size of 255/75/17. That size tire comes standard on the Willys and it looks to be to a good fit. I still haven’t decided on the brand but I plan on going with an A/T. All seasons are great for the beach but I also travel some pretty rocky back roads to some of my fishing spots and feel the A/T would be better protection on those roads. Good luck with your decision.

I'm not familiar with the Cape's regional snowfall. That said, I've the same Michelins on my JLU, and was disappointed in their performance in the white stuff. I eventually purchased some General Grabber Arctic LTs, on a separate wheel set, for use during our regional snowfall. :)

It was on this very drive, with the OEM Michelins in situ, that convinced me to invest in a proper set of winter radials.

I gotta throw in Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT...I got them in a 35" but they are super quiet and have great on and off road performance.

I have heard good things about them, too...not available in my OEM size (245/75R17 112T), but imagine the 245/65R17 30X9.50R17 would do the job?
