Hello All,

My 2021 JLUR had the hood repainted recently under warranty due to paint bubbling from corrosion. The car was returned to me with a huge amount of bubbles under the RUBICON decals. When I questioned the body shop about this they said that the bubbles will go away on their own after a few weeks. I feel like that's BS and it looks like total crap at the moment. Does anyone have any experience with this?

They must have had some rookies working on your Jeep!

They could have done a better job with the vinyl for sure, but he is right, after some time in the sun most of the bubbles will be gone / not noticeable. I have had this experience, not with a Jeep, but with body shops replacing vinyl. A couple weeks in the sun should fix it.

Try to ignore it for a couple of weeks and see how it looks. If it still looks bad you can always have them re-do it.

let us know how it looks in a couple of weeks.

This answer is spot-on. I work in the printing/vinyl industry. Most of those smaller bubbles will go away easily on it's own, the bigger ones you may need to "help" it by using your credit card to squeegee them closer to the edge of the sticker without creasing the vinyl.

A few "little bubbles" is not what I'm seeing in those pictures. That is straight up a BAD job of doing the vinyl. Looks like they tried to do them dry.

Follow up: The bubbles did not go away. I got the body shop to re apply new decals and now they are perfect. The body shop claims that the bubbles were caused by applying the decals right after the repaint (at the request of the dealer to save a second appointment) when really they should let the paint cure for 4-6 weeks before applying any decals.

Yea…the factory doesn’t wait 4-6 weeks. The paint shop just needs to own its screw up. We all make mistakes…just own it! The blame game gets old. Glad it’s fixed for you!
