Sure does.

As soon as it found out a batch of Pentastars were defective, Chrysler jumped right on it, identified the problem, issued a campaign, notified dealers and owners; the whole thing was contained and pretty much resolved within six months.

It’s been seven months since the first Bronco was reported blowing an engine. Ford hasn’t communicated anything to anyone; no one knows what’s going on, there’s no official info on the cause or the scope of the problem. Owners don’t know if their Bronco is affected and Ford is leaving them hanging in uncertainty. Those affected are caught by surprise, have to figure out by themselves what to do and fight it out with the dealer. If their Bronco blows an engine, it is taking months to get it fixed.

To this day Ford still pretends there’s nothing going on and some dealers are still in the dark.

Ford's handling of the 6.7L valvetrain failures and WIF sensors not detecting water in the fuel was handled much the same.

Slow to react if at all and almost never (if ever) admitting there is an issue at all.

The debate between the reactionists, the apologists and the realists in these two threads is great entertainment.
There appears to be a specific date range of engine builds that are effected. But there has been a smattering of other smaller issues as well. Fuel pump failures, alternators failing after water crossings, and a bunch of electrical glitches caused by loose grounds and unseated fuses/control moduals. And don't forget the brittle stock tie rods.

Overall it seem's a solid vehicle - those without issues love it - but it still feels like a quality lottery at the moment. Maybe needs another full model year to tighten up the manufacturing...

I read somewhere there is/was a run of valves made with brittle steel and they are failing and dropping down into the cylinders destroying the engines. Things like this happen with far too great a frequency, but the proof in the pudding is how an OEM stands behind the product and takes care of business.

Ford not willing to admit there is a problem and issue a recall for those affected engines is a step in the wrong direction.

There have been a couple of blown engines that fell outside of the “guesstimated” production date window.

At this point, one gets the impression that Ford does not have a handle on the problem, has no clue about what’s going on, and has no solution besides waiting for the engines to blow up and address it one at a time as they pop up —pun intended...

July 14th, 2020 Bronco reservation here. Still no build date.

I was initially excited for the Bronco's release, but Ford's hampered ability to build certain trims because of 'commodity constraints', messing with the dealer allocation model, and first/second year teething problems (bad hard tops, 2.7 dropped valves, etc) in conjunction with their near complete lack of communication to order holders really soured me. I'm over it.

It worked out though. Because I now have a JLR that I love and I'm ultimately going to be happier with, as a solid front axle much better aligns with my goals for the build.

For me, having followed the 6G forum since before production began, and despite the multitude of manufacturing issues since, Fords biggest and most unforgivible sin has been it's treatment of the early reservation holders. You guys (and girls) supported the Bronco from day one and were largely responsible for the buzz and demand. Only to have the rules changed after Ford failed to build all the first year models promised - or left them sitting on dirt mountain. Switching back to their - outdated - allocation system for '22 and beyond screwed their most loyal supporters.
And then allowing for the crazy ADM's to be thrown at order holders when they finally arrived was unforgivable. It was fun to watch the 6G crowd go after those shady dealers though!
I would have given up and gone down the road to Jeep or Toyata as well. Shoot, the screwed up launch probably sold as many Wranglers as Bronco's judging by the quarterly sales figures...

I was in a similar position, July 15th 2020 res holder, and I hit January of this year and decided to order a Jeep and whoever delivered first got my money.

Ordered my JLUR through Granger end of January, and been wheeling it for about a month now.

Ironically, going to the Bronco off roadeo in Moab did show me how valuable front end flex would be for my use case, and now that I’m in a wrangler it is definitely better for my purposes.

I also just got notification that my bronco order just got scheduled for production, apparently instead of canceling it the dealer just turned it into lot stock and added every single option they could ? I feel bad for whoever pays the ADM on that one…

Ford is not perfect but neither is Stellantis. This and other Jeep forums are full of posts about FCA leaving people high and dry. With that being said, Ford totally screwed the pooch on the Broncos.

I agree with the posts that say "Ford will fix it". My colleague had a Dodge Journey with an early Pentastar that suffered a common failure. He was out of warranty, but they worked with him on replacing the head. Honestly, he wasn't happy with how Dodge handled it, but he got a new head for $1000 OTD. He had a stack of miles on the engine, while not ideal I believe they treated him fairly.

I feel confident that legacy Chrysler worked the major systemic issues out of the Pentastar, and Ford will do the same with the Bronco engines.
