Pull that fuse dude. F97 like was mentioned. All you lose is the screen which is fubar anyway.

Well, I've managed to send it to the dealer. Let's see what they can do. Have any of you changed your connect unit for something different, like the Alpine X409-WRA-JL? Wondering if maybe something like this would be useful if Uconnect continues to be unreliable.

It says its for the non-premium audio version, I didnt see another version. I wonder if they're going to do another?

There is an added component you need to get to make it work with the premium audio system from what I understand. I believe it has something to do with the amp. If you go to the quadratec webpage, they offer both versions. They differ in price by about 200$. The more expensive one includes the needed piece. They mention it in the specs when you scroll down.

I tried to ask Alpine about the system directly by phone, but they were not overly helpful. But the quadratec site seemed informative. I think the unit that Alpine makes looks awesome if you want to retain all your features and have full plug and play. There is a good review from someone named stereo girl i think. But the price seems very high. I'm in Canada and it costs 4500$, plus you need to get that adapter thing as most places don't include it like quadratec does, then if you want the sirius radio, you need another piece. Both these parts cost approx. 300$ together. Then you have to install it, which looks easy in the video, but we all know how that sometimes goes :P

Mine failed with the Error 20 code on Thursday night. Had Uconnect basically have me input a time that day for it to update, I didn't want to update it cause I was on vacation camping in the woods of NH with no cell service but couldn't do anything until I put the time in. Set it for 8:00 PM and within 15 minutes screens said Contact Uconnect with the error code below which is 20. Now the screen stays on bright white and driving at night is like having a flash light in your eye, have no heat, no ac or defrost Contacting uconnect is a waste of time, they cannot do anything and tell you to go to the dealer.

Got it into the dealer and they couldn't get it to update and were authorized to order a new one. Problem is no one has any idea how soon they can get one, one week? One Month?. Now they expect you to drive this with a bright white light in your eyes, no heat, no defrost since it is rainy and in the 40's here, it is a serious safety problem so I contacted Jeep Cares again and got Alex(if you call and get someone with this name, hang up). He tells me this is not a safety problem and cannot get a loaner because I don't have a service contract(My wrangler is a 2019 with 8400 miles). Told me to go rent a car and then submit the paperwork to review and "maybe" I would get reimbursed. Asked to speak to a manager and he said none would speak to me, asked if I can wait he said none of them want to speak with me.... He was a real a-hole. @JeepCares now to wait for a specialist to call me on Tuesday with when I will have a new Connect unit.

@JeffI

Pull fuse F97 in the power distribution center (PDC) . Doing that kills power to the radio and screen should go dark/black. You can drive with F97 pulled until dealer addresses the issue.

That is what I did (pulled the fuse). My replacement took 4 weeks to arrive.

Dealer pulled the fuse. Wow, 4 weeks. Did your heat/ac/defrost work?

If they cover your rental it will only be up to $35 a day.

The loaner/rental policy is why this will be my last FCA vehicle. Totally unacceptable not to offer a replacement for warranty issues. Let alone an issue like this that they caused.

Suppose we should be grateful they are fixing it at all

Everything seemed to work fine although with Covid, I didn't drive all that often. If it didn't work properly, I didn't drive enough to notice it.

Your HVAC controls will still work, even if you don't have a working UConnect or have removed the unit entirely. If you have the dual zone HVAC control panel, use the MODE button to switch between modes. You'll just have to guess which mode it's in by where the air is coming from.

I went more than a month without my radio even in the Jeep while I waited for a replacement unit and was still able to warm the interior, defrost windows, etc.

My dealership is also planning to order a new one. They said they couldn't run any diagnostic because the computer couldn't communicate with the radio. I'm happy they are planning to replace it, just concerned about how long it will take to arrive. The dealership that helps me has generally been good, so I'm hopeful they will be transparent about everything and get it sorted in a timely manner. The other thing that worries me is if they put a new unit, what if it also tries to do the update and also dies. What do you do in that case?

I agree with you Jeff, it is super frustrating. I also unplugged the fuse and no longer have to deal with a screen that is non-functional, but won't shut off. That being said, I have no idea what the temperature is in the car either given that there are no indicators. I just find it a bit embarrassing given that it is a pretty new vehicle, and these problems seem self-inflicted by Jeep/Uconnect. Some people have tried to tell me that it is not uncommon in cars with the new electronics. That being said, I've never had any issues in any of my other vehicles with these specific types of features.

I wonder how common an issue this is with the Uconnect. I know it has some history of being temperamental, but really would be interested to see how many people lose full functionality after the update.

Keep us updated on what they tell you. I'll post once I hear anything.
