I am getting this error but only when I start the Jeep when the doors are off. So frustrating!

I get the throttle light at start up then it goes out, Then the yellow "A" with circle around it and the ESS is don't work. Then some days everything is fine. Wondering if its a clamp on a vacuum hose or PCV as mentioned. The TSB 18-058-18 revB mentions one of the REFLASH things it updates is the Elect vac pump...... hmmm.

I just got this last night. Jeep was outside at ORD in -1F temp for a few days. Not sure if it was related. Had no power. I did a couple restarts and it went away.

Has this been resolved? Thx.

I have been dealing with the same issues since mid Feb. With under 17k miles both electronic throttle control and electronic stability control errors re-occurring just 14 months after purchase on 2/14/2020. This resulting in engine power loss preventing going over 1500 RPMs. Luckily, the first time it happened I was driving down a city road at 35 mph..... and not my wife with 3 year old son on the interstate. With that being the case I was able to pull over to investigate. After turning off the engine and restarting the errors/codes were still there but the engine would accelerate over 1500 rpms. After a few minutes the errors would clear and go away however the battery light would stay on. I called the local dealership here in Franklin, TN to be told they didn't have a loaner for me. With the industry I am in, I must have a vehicle so i had to deal with the issue until I was able to obtain a loaner on 2/19/2020. I received a call from the dealership that it was ready for pick-up late on 2/20/20 stating the issue was the battery was completely drained to the point that it wouldn't even take a charge. This was determined the root cause of the electronic failures.

Within the first few hours of picking up my jeep late on 2/21/20, the errors were back resulting in engine power loss. I called the dealership the following morning informing them the issues had returned. I was told a loaner vehicle was not available and if i needed one I would need to call first thing Monday morning to see if one had been returned to reserve. I dealt with the issue through the weekend. The turn off and turn on process had to be done a couple times.

After calling in a couple times Monday the 24th I was able to secure a loaner. This time the dealership informed me after running further tests they were unable to identify the root cause and had to contact STAR for support. After multiple weeks I was informed my vehicle was ready for pickup on 3/18/2020. That's almost a month! It was determined the issue was a possible loose hose, damaged hose, PCV something, etc. etc..... I picked up my jeep on 3/19 and....... the errors came back the following day. Jeep service was closed so I emailed and took pics to time stamp the re-occurring issue.

The jeep was then returned a 3rd time for the same issue on 3/21. I was informed on 3/31 (10 days after the third drop off) a test run of 200 miles needed to be put on the Jeep to ensure the issue was corrected. Service notified me the following morning (4/1) that 65 miles into the test drive, the errors came back. In short, my Jeep is still at the dealership and no one knows how to fix it. I'm now being told they are having to bring Chrysler engineers out to run tests and help onsite.

I have talked to Jeep Customer Care multiple times to be told my Jeep does not qualify as a lemon because lemon law in TN only applies for the first 12 months of ownership. I did not have the issue until month 14. Therefore, from my understanding in speaking with my POC handling my case my options are......

A. Allow them to continue working on a solution and driver the loaner Cherokee.
B. Trade in, trade up program which the dealership offered me $36k for my $52k jeep that has a manufactures, unwarrantable issue.

FCA offered $4k towards the purchase of a new Jeep.... However, I would have to come out of pocket over $15k to get a 2020 setup just like mine.

Why would anyone agree to come out of pocket for a replacement vehicle when the vehicle they spent good money on is only down for the count due to a manufactures issue?

A better question is should consumers expect this to be a common business practice moving forward? @JeepCares

Since I have time on my hands, I intend to go over every wiring ground on my JL. No issues as others have described, at 13000 miles, but why take a chance...base Sport 2 Dr, 2.0T

I am having this issue as well. Dealer flashed it, it came back. It’s weird sometimes it will go away for hundreds if miles, sometimes it’s 4 times a day.

I have this issue. I bought the Jeep last Friday it happened 4 days later. 200 miles on the car. I can’t believe it. I have a service appointment coming up, does anyone have any ideas on what to tell the service people? Or, based on experience, is this a lemon?

I think I read that by replacing the gas pedal with the sensor eliminated the issue.

Wow, thanks for this. Looks like I may have a long road ahead dealing with this, which is just nuts for such an expensive car. Do you know if any others on the forum have had the issue and had it actually fixed? I guess it's a good thing that this happened so soon after buying it, because I'm well inside the lemon laws. Not sure what the time limit is in NJ.

My advise I would go ahead and start a case with FCA to get the ball rolling. Research Lemon LAW in NJ. Even if you are outside of that, if you decide to move forward with arbitration they go by the guidelines of that. Not necessarily the time frame but the number of times the problem has occurred, buyback process, etc. Keep docs, emails and texts. If something is said in conversation between you and the tech or service advisor, follow-up with a text confirming what was said.
