First post. Love this Jeep. Long time forum creeper. Joined yesterday. While driving to work today had cruise control set at 68 top back windows down. I hear a loud explosion and look behind me. There’s no window. Glass everywhere, parts hanging. Stopped at the Jeep dealership on my way into work - service advisor chuckled and said this will be an expensive repair for you. I asked would this not be covered under warranty. He told me not to hold my breath. $2000 repair. 2023 diesel rubicon w/sot. 40k problem free miles. Have not been to the dealership once. It does feel nice having the air blow through - I thought about removing the rear glass. This was just a quicker way to do it. Just out of curiosity how many people have experienced this?

If the warranty angle doesn't work, buy the glass and install it yourself, it's very simple, cleaning up the broken glass is the hardest part.

Some city pets broke into mine looking for what they thought was a case of beer, I got a rear glass off a buy and sell website for $400.

This was back in 2019 when the JL was still new so parts were hard to come by, Jeep wanted $1,200 for the glass.

This happened to my brother's Grand Cherokee. When he asked me and I searched about it, I found it was a common enough occurrence that people knew it could happen, along with a couple of articles about it. IIRC there are a few post about it happening to Wranglers on this forum. I searched but searching from a phone sucks. Either way that sucks.

Go through insurance if you have glass coverage or maybe find a back window at a junk yard.

Just picked up my '25 Jeep today, from the dealership, following a shattered driver side quarter panel window. Mine shattered when I closed the driver door while still parked on my driveway.

Jeep covered it on warranty.

I don’t think I was shot at. Not much traffic or aggressive behavior going on. My deductible is $1,000. Called a local Bodyshop and got it for $400. I’m not even mad! Love this Jeep.

This has happened to several other Wrangler hardtop owners. I do not know the cause. I suspect it has to do with internal stress in the glass from the tempering process.

This looks like the window was up while driving and smacked the spare from a bump. A widow blowing out from pressure does not leave that much glass in the vehicle. I have never seen a Wrangler window blow out from pressure, I have seen them slam down on the spare and explode.

Edit: Ok, so looking closer at the pics. The window was definitely closed. I would also have pushed hard for warranty, but the dealer has no way to verify that nothing struck it, so I can see why they would deny a claim.

You can see the window seal closed against the tailgate. I never drive with it up.
