Was there a BB mixed in with all that glass? A hit from a simple BB gun at quite a long range will completely shatter a car window. I knew some guys back in high school (80s) that would joy ride around and shoot at cars (generally parked) using a BB rifle from their car with the intent of shattering windows. Just for fun.
