That was my initial thought on Sunday when this happened. But now that I have talked with Bolt Customer service and seen how they stand behind their product, I have no problem installing it again on my Jeep.

Yes, it sucks and is going to require some extra unplanned work, but honestly if this was just a fluke, then I have no concerns with continued use of the product.

I am dealing with another vendor on an issue that was far more expensive than this, and their customer service is no where near as good as what Bolt's was. Some companies have the attitude that they know more than we do, and they are just angry when we call them.

It was refreshing to deal with Bolt.
thats amazing! I just have the thought, if someone wants whats under there, they are probably gonna get to it either way though the lock is a great deterrent ... I have good insurance

I agree. As my buddy said when I sent him the pics above: The bolt is great protection against pranks.

The same method to defeat can be applied to your tailgate, doors, and most home locks.

My husband had been provided Bolt locks for his company truck and over the past 3 years they have failed multiple times. He has had to cut them off and mailed them back to Bolt under the lifetime warranty but so far they continue to fail to the point he just put on some regular locks. Good concept but kind of useless without having to cut them off many times.

Sorry this happened, but glad you have an action plan. I want the hood lock but I have the trail camera. I have not yet figured out to have both.

Appreciate your updates for those of us with this lock. Will you have to drill out the 4 pop rivets as well?

Yes I will. When I do that, I will post another update.

I’m glad it all worked out but I just don’t understand why FCA just does not put a hood release on the inside of a Jeep, they could still leave the latches for looks and secondary function. Doing this would eliminate the need for a lock that fails

I've had the Mopar Hood lock on 3 of my JK's and now on the JL. Never 1 Issue.
Mopar's lock's have to be keyed, Not push and turn like bolt's. Keying the lock is not that bad to do. Seems like maybe there is more to go wrong with the bolt style?

Who does the keying? Is it sent with the parts to do it yourself?

You can do it yourself, Just take your time.
I looked at the same video for keying the gas cap.
The Hood lock just has more tumblers.
