I installed the hood lock about a year ago and had 0 issues with it.

Recently it’s become a struggle to unlock, twisting the key to the point I’m worried I’m going to break my key fob.

Decided to take a look and it seems the latch arm is making contact with the frame (video attached). I suspect it’s something loose on the lock arm, but it’d be a pain to remove since it’s riveted.

Anybody got any suggestions?

I swear last week I read a thread about a failed Bolt hood lock but I can’t find it. I recall the solution being to drill out the existing lock core under advisement from Bolt, and Bolt provided a new lock core, the Bolt customer service was helpful and responsive.

sorry can’t help further. I too have a Bolt hood lock and filed away that other thread in memory as a future just in case.

Looks like you’re missing one of the top rivets. I wonder if that allows it to shift enough to cause interference. Here’s some pics of mine. I have about 1/8” of clearance (last pic) where your latch is hitting. I tried to show pics at various points of the the latch as it moves from locked to unlocked. Make sure your hardware and internal mechanism looks similar to mine. Then maybe send your video to Bolt.

I would try drilling out the rivets and removing the lock before destroying the locking mechanism. I too have the bolt lock but haven’t run into this issue, sorry. It does look like the bolt for the latch has backed off some?? Look for a Mopar parts diagram and see if you can find a diagram to better help fix the latch?

Thanks for the input guys. There is one rivet missing because I started to remove the lock so I don’t get stranded. At first I thought the issue was the lock but then decided to look closer and realized the issue was the arm. At this point I decided to leave the lock in place (unlocked) until I could get some input.

I’ll check the bolt on the locking mechanism to see if it’s possibly backed off a little allowing some play in the arm.

I’ll update soon!
