Hello all -

We just got our 2023 Jeep 392 with the XR package and are looking for a bikini top for this Summer, after we take off the roof.

We have been looking at the following option, based on some research: https://www.jtopsusa.com/jeep-bikini-half-shade

I wanted to see if anyone else has this top, and their experience with it? Or if anyone is using different tops that they are happy with, and would suggest as another option to the one we're currently looking at.

Thanks for any help.

I've had four different bikini tops through the years, and can't recommend jtops enough. They're pricier than most, but the only one I've had that'll handle 50mph+ speeds without excessive flapping and/or noise.

Are you looking for a sunshade? Or solid?

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I noticed that most of these bikini tops require removing windshield bolts (to insert the front edge loops). Are there tops that don't require that? I'm looking for something that can be installed removed very quickly without the use of any tools.

I went with alien sunshade very easy to install and remove, does well at high speed it’s two separate pieces for the JLU front and back not a full once piece cover, it’s a cheaper option but does the job well

I don't have a bikini top for my JL but I had CJ's that I tried various tops with. What kind of bikini top can depend on many factors and what you can tolerate. None of us can answer what you can tolerate so I will give you the reasons why I made the choice I made.

I haven't used the mesh but I don't like convertibles because when in the middle of the road, there are no trees so you are baking in the sun. Same in this case. Does the mesh provide adequate protection for the amount of sun you want to get?

If it rains a lot or the rain is unpredictable you may want a solid bikini top. It will provide as much protection as an umbrella so you aren't soaked. There is plenty of airflow around it and will keep the sun off. This si the more traditional style.

I grew up in East TN. Weather could be unpredictable in the TN Valley. When all was said and done I preferred a soft top that allowed me to turn it into a bikini top but I could just roll the rear windows down and have a full top, If I ran into a rainstorm. Not a full answer but hopefully gave you some things to think about.

How well do you find these Alien sunshades work against the sun? We get a lot of sun here, so I am looking to keep the sun off while driving.

Looks like they're pretty easy to install with no bolts needed?

Thanks for the thoughtful response. You made some really good points.

I am really looking for a sunshade solution. We probably wouldn't drive in the rain, unless we get caught in it, once the roof is off for the Summer.

So for us it's all about controlling the strength of the sun as it hits us while driving.

I’m in NJ and they seem to do well with average temperatures, I usually run my AC if it’s anywhere close to 90 so with that said in the low to medium 80 they work great, no bolts or velcro just bungee tied to your roll bar, the good thing I like about them is if you need to flip up the softop cause of rain or when you park for security to lock up, you don’t need to remove them, which with some of the full cover models ones you can’t put your soft top back on them less you remove the straps that are around the roof rails

I would let you know what bikini top I have but you have the XR package and it would not fit.

I have them in CO and our sun here is pretty intense due to elevation and they make a huge difference. They also cut down the wind coming in over the windshield significantly.

They are installed with only bungees but the ones by the windshield need a "extender" to get them around the visor area. Theres lot of youtube videos showing their installation.
