I'm wondering the same thing. My KO2s are decent at everything, but great at nothing. Hopefully the KO3s are better at rock crawling and handling snow.
Of course… show me any product that is great for most anything. It’s not like they are holding back. They can do as you wish but there will be a sacrifice. Are you willing to give up some performance/wear for the majority of the use time?

I’m not dissing your wishes but there is a reality that is heavily influenced by physics. Maybe we need adaptive tires?

This guy did a great comparison of the two a few days ago:
just watched this.. from what I see, they attempted to improve water evacuation by directing the grooves outward without any lug getting in the way - kinda looks like the Kumo RoadVenture AT52s in that sense.. lol

The jagged and more intentional siping seems to be a nod in the right direction for snow/ice grip.
Now we let all the early adopters iron out balancing issues that were notorious on first few years of KO2s.

I'm definitely willing to give up wear for better rock crawling and snow/ice characteristics.

I'd prefer not to have to winch myself over obstacles. I'd also love to be able to get down my driveway in the snow. I've got about a 20' drop off that's not fun to feel yourself sliding uncontrollably towards.

No argument… I’m with you. But apparently the masses are happy with the compromise. At least BFG thinks so.

@Discount Tire any word on if the KO3s will be any closer to their stated size than our KO2s are?
I used Tire Rack specs comparing the LT285/70R 17/C.... Both tires stand at 32.8" on a 8.5" wide wheel. The KO 2 weighs in at 51 lbs and the KO 3 weighs in at 56 lbs.

Thanks for doing that comparison. I did the same and what stood out to me is that the K03 apparently has half an inch less tread width than the KO2 (9.3" for the KO2 and 8.8" for the KO3). That's unexpected as well as disappointing.

You're right, and I failed to mention that. Overall width on the wheel is the same but the tread face width is definitely less.

I ordered the 285/70/17 KO3s from Discount Tire and have an appointment Saturday to have them installed. As I was driving last night I had a nail in one of my old tires so at least it happened before the new ones!
Thank you for the opportunity to earn your business. Would love to hear how the tires perform for you over time.

Is there any idea of when the KO3 is going to be available? Outside of the two sizes currently available, that is.

I currently have 35" KO2s with about 25-30k miles on them and they are so slick in the rain I won't let anyone else drive the Jeep in wet weather.
Bfg is telling me they should start adding sizes this spring.

I just emailed BFG and requested the KO3 in 34x10.5R17 but load range C instead of the D load that the KO2 has in that size. That would make an excellent lightweight upgrade from the 255/75/17 for those of us who like to keep it skinny.

I'd love to see more C load options. A 285/75-17 would be perfect.
