I’m thinking of getting these (basically bigger and wider than what’s already on my Rubicon) and wondering if anyone can comment? Sound? Handling?

im open to any ideas for my 2” Mopar Lifted 2021 rubicon in a 35” x 12.5 ish tires. I don’t do a lot of off-roading

im going from 33” to 35” tire very shortly

Sort of, kinda retired....mostly
I have 33" KO2's on my '21 Rubi that came with it, and am very happy with them. They have done great in the wet, snow, mud and rock climbing and are great on the highway. I'm planning to move up to a 2" Mopar lift very soon and have decided to stick with KO2's for the 35's.

I think the KO2 is a great choice for your application. It is an excellent all around tire that is still very capable off road. My plan was to go to a mud terrain tire (red letter General Grabber X3) on my wifes JLR in 35x12.5-17 but they seem perpetually on back order like so many things. The 35's should give you Jeep a great look and not compromise it's handling.

Tire Rack just shipped my KO2s with wheels a few hours ago. Getting a similar size--315/70r17s and have the Mopar 2" lift scheduled for my 4xe Sahara next Tuesday. I did a lot of reading, and the KO2s seem like the hands down, best all round tire.

The only major difference you're gonna notice, outside of fuel economy, is that with the tire sticking out beyond the fenders a little more, you'll be more susceptible to rock flinging. KO2s are notorious for tossing rocks and your rear fenders will take that abuse the most.

2018 JLU Sahara... preceded by 2012 JKU Sahara, Multiple CJ's, TJ's even XJ, WJ & WK2... yup, Always loved my jeeps :)
One thing to consider if you are focused on ride and handling is the tire ply. IE, the 315 / 70 / 17 comes in a C ply as that is what ships standard on a Rapture. If you go with an E Ply, you will certainly gain some durability for heavy rock crawling... but that will come at the cost of your ride quality becoming considerably stiffer and more harsh.

I run the C Ply 315 and find it every bit as nice as the like ply stock rubi tire in a 285.

sounds like I’ll be happy then..

Lifts getting installed Friday and I’m going for the 17” mopar bead locks and going for one of these 2 looks

either paint the beadlock sarges green or paint black and the groove in beadlock red. (i think the pic w green beadlock is 37”)

I'll second the recommendation for 315/70/17's in load range C.

No noticeable change in the ride, maybe a bit more road noise from the wider tires.

I had 35x12.5 BFG KO2s on my 2018 JKUR; I have 35x12.5 General Grabber ATXs on my JLU Sahara now.

KO2 vs Grabber ATX:
  • KO2s measure 34.5 inches; Generals measure true 35 inches
  • KO2s are a tad quieter on-road; Generals ride slightly more comfortable on the trails
  • KO2s have an edge on grip in the rain; Generals in the snow
  • Generals cost about 10%-20% less; KO2s are super easy to resell
Either tire is an excellent choice.

I’ve had that size KO2 on since new - no issues with road noise or handling. Can’t compare to stock as never ran them but can’t see it would make much difference.
Great all round tyre.

Also have the Mopar lift, leaves lots of room for flex when I do take her off pavement.

Tire choice boils down to two choices for me, “Do you want to crash at high speed on road or crash at low speed off road?”

I’d always choose the best tire for wet on road conditions. KO2’s seem to win that argument every time.

I'm getting these same tires in 37" installed next week on Mopar bead lock wheels. I also have the 2' Mopar lift. it was a no brainer since Nitto RG & Coopper SST Pro in 37' are in nationwide back order...
