I keep seeing that the KO3 is superior to the KO2 tires. I like the KO2, but have always found the tread wears out, pretty fast, and they aren't the best in wet weather, when the tread wears past 50% or so.
What are the improvements to the KO3 to warrant the change?

@DaltonGang The KO 3 hasn't been on the market all that long, but there has been some feedback on other forums that seems to be very positive. Looks like the issues you mentioned have been addressed. Wet weather traction has improved, as well as road noise. The tire is much quieter. As for treadwear improvement, that remains to be seen. The customers I'm talking to are only a few thousand miles into their purchase, but overall reviews are positive.

Is there any idea of when the KO3 is going to be available? Outside of the two sizes currently available, that is.

I currently have 35" KO2s with about 25-30k miles on them and they are so slick in the rain I won't let anyone else drive the Jeep in wet weather.

Well, there are mystery upgrades on the KO3's, and I couldn't find what they are. So, the Wrangler is now rocking Toyo Open Country A/T3's.

Yea I heard "sometime in 2024". If Black Friday sales are good enough I may go ahead and pull the trigger on a set of Generals. Just haven't decided between the ATX or the X3.

When the winter rains come you will find them superior to KO2’s in wet, my ride is better, but larger size could be a factor. Also the lightest 3peak rated 35/12.50 - 3.15/70 ~ 5 lbs lighter than KO2 3.15’s, I like that, but a bit louder. satisfied customer ?

KO2s have a 50K mile warranty. I don't know of that many high quality all terrain tires that have the long of a lifespan.

Are you specifically concerned about accelerated deterioration of wet handling? You mentioned that in your post. What AT or other LT tires that aren't first and foremost road-focused handle better in wet?

I am curious because I regard KO2s as one of the best, if not the best, all-rounder tires out there. Weaknesses are mud (which is more MT territory anyway) and arguably, their tendency to fling rocks into Jeep fenders and door hinges.

They are decent, but there are better out there. The KO2's were always lacking in the longevity department. Sure they say 50,000, but to me, the might as well have said 75,000. It never happens. 30-35,000 is the norm around here. Lots of city, with some highway miles. I've had better mileage from Firestones and Goodyears on my trucks, and the trucks were heavy diesels. My main gripe is the KO2 is slippery when tread is below half life. Not a good thing at all.
I specifically wanted to know what the differences between the KO2 and KO3 were.
I'm no fanboy of any particular brand tire. Or, Chevy/Ford etc.

That makes sense. I am no BFG fanatic and recognize that there are plenty of other great options out there. Just asking because I am curious about where your head is. Always open to learning about other options.

For what it is worth, I live in Western Washington where roads are wet a significant amount of the year. Wet handling is an important consideration to me (though so is mud). Also why I am curious.

Appreciate the reply!

I agree with the KO2 getting slippery with high mileage. I have been getting great wear though keeping them rotated and properly inflated. In all likelihood I will put KO3 on my F150 and maybe my JLR next time too if I don’t go with Cooper SST if I continue to offroad and get a new daily for my wife. The BMW is getting very long in the tooth.

Funny how vehicle stable affects tire choice.

Still no info on the KO3's, and why they will be better than the KO2's??
Extra Stipping was the only.thing I heard.

if they improved wet traction and kept everything else at least the same or better than ko2.. they might have a very popular update on the cards
