Bestop Rebate FAIL!

OP - Dookey's question seems the most pertinent to me, as if Northridge advertised the availability of the Bestop rebate as an incentive for you to purchase from them, then I would think they have some responsibility for ensuring that they do not interfere in the transaction in a way that voids the rebate. I would take this up with Northridge. At a minimum, they might offer you a store credit as courtesy compensation.

Bestop has been in contact with me to look into this. As Bay Sailor has pointed out when we purchased, the terms and conditions had no such caveat in place.

Bestop, clearly "Rebates" are problematic, as this thread proves. Why aren't discounts given at time of sale, ie, lower price immediately. The delays associated with " Rebates", and the sales tax based on the pre- rebate price is annoying. Are you fattening your bottom line, knowing that a percentage of Rebates will be fine print not given ??
What's the rationale behind " rebate", rather than direct Sale price ??

(1) somebody will forget to submit
(2) somebody submitted will forget to attach "the right" receipt
(3) somebody submitted did not fill the form correctly
(4) somebody submitted forget to attach UPC
(5) once you did rebate, you can't return your products
(6) Last but not least, fine prints.

To add 1 through 6, it becomes a substantial percentage of the buyers.

Okay, I am bummed. I have done at least a dozen Jeep-related rebate, including several freaking Rugged Ridge ones, this is the first one I got denied. Good job, @Bestop I don't even know "no error for the item" means?

that's the one that ANY company, selling ANYTHING, literally relies on when offering a rebate. just put the damned thing on sale already. let the distributors try to get the money back.

it's a cheater's way of having a sale and i don't do it. doesn't matter what the product is, i'll buy similar from someone else.

Generally I don't have issue with rebates, as long as the company honestly honoring their rebates. I don't know geez I probably have done thousands of rebate through my life, all the way from some dollar rebates to a couple of grands from appliance purchasing. Most of the time, I have been very careful about cutting off UPC codes, fill out the forms and double check, mail them on time. I get them 99 out of 100 times, even from companies that are notorious.
