Why do these guys never post their actual performance gains? Any thoughts on who makes the best intake for the 3.0 dsl?
Short answer is almost no one does.

IF its not sucking air from outside the engine bay then it don't work and in fact in most cases I have found aftermarket CAI is all show and no go.

I did extensive CAI testing back in the days that CAI was HOT, around 2005 era. All of them cited huge gains of HP/Torque, yet almost every one succeed hit inside the engine bay and some even sucked it from the back side of the radiator and over the Exhaust.

The BEST ever CAI came on some of the CJs OEM. Carb with air cleaner on top and then a HOSE that went from the AC to the back side of the headlight bucket. So I fabbed one up based upon that on my TJ and found honest gains. About .5-1.5 mpg and seat of the pants felt improvement.

I have the CAI option on my JLR-X, doubt it's worth the cost but it does sound Throaty and maybe it does offer some extra oomph. I can say this. On the same route of 105 miles on I 75 I get better mpg over my 2023 JLR. I have driven it 4 times. I am getting about 2.5 mpg over my 2023 JLR on this exactly same route. So maybe it does work???

Anyone with CAI wish to post up their oil analysis reports? I am genuinely curious.
I don’t have my old reports from my XJ but I will say I absolutely saw a huge jump in silica content on my UOA’s after putting a K&N I take on it.

That being said, the CAI was paired with a bored and polished throttle body, Banks header and full Banks exhaust. It definitely all together made a difference in power. Sounded great too.

Call me crazy, but think it is a bit ironic that many are concerned that carbon dirt going through aftermarket air filters when this carbon is going into your engine after the air filter.

where is this located ? behind the intake manifold ? because this is not the tube that is connected to the air intake on the throttle body

Which air filter are you guys using? Thought we had a thread on it but might have missed it.

Don't care about the performance, which will make the 3.0 sound better?

NONE. You alter any intake component you will get failure and codes. Not to mention the proven performance is zero and yes you might get a slight decibel change but with significant particulates passing through the intake which shortens the engine life. Steep price to pay for a tone.

Both CAIs and catback exhausts are all show and no go. [over the years, I've tried both] Although in most cases they both provide some throaty sounds. But..if you are looking for actual performance gains, look elsewhere. The manufacturers left nothing on the table for simple bolt-ons. Your ears may be tricked, but the seat-of-your-pants isn't. Nor is the stopwatch.

I just want to hear the turbo.
I’m in the same boat. Don’t care about performance, just want to hear the intake, motor, and exhaust more. Going back and forth between the S&B and AFE intake.

It really has been decades since simple bolt on modifications actually resulted in more power.
I however did install an AFE "superstock" intake just for the aesthetics.

Remove the insulation / sound deadener under the hood and you'll hear it a bit more. Took mine off to do some work to the windshield washers and drove around for a bit without putting it back. It's still not going to be loud, but you'll get a bit of nice turbo sounds.

Would that affect engine temp in any way? If not. Why did jeep spend money putting it there? Just curious.

Amen to that. Even decades ago, pre-fuel injection, bigger carbs and headers did nothing unless you cleaned up the ports, installed a more aggressive cam, and upped the compression ratio.
