I just noticed this in the build & price tool at jeep.com. Is this new as a factory-ordered option? Just curious; I'm not a CAI fan. Although, interestingly, this setup appears to actually draw cold air rather than under-hood air. And...if bought on a new vehicle, Jeep does the hood cuts at the factory.

If someone is considering it definitely pay the $495.00. I cut mine today and while not hard, a mistake would suck.

Would you mind posting a pic of the CAI with the hood open?

What do you want to see, the airbox or the back side of the hood vent?

In case anyone wants to watch a fool cut a hole in a brand new Jeep. I could give two shits if you subscribe. My wife started the channel. I just like putting things on to help people.

Looking at the picture, I'm confused as to how the outside air gets from the newly created vent into the air filter assembly. It looks like the assembly doesn't mate up the hood vent opening. Is there an unrestricted path that we can't see from that angle?

Its not sealed, which would be nice. But yes the rubber "hood" from the airbox that sticks up directs the outside air in making it a more true cold air induction.
