The dimensions of a tailgate table are inextricably linked to the comparatively limited height of the Wrangler's tailgate to which the table is mounted. The table can't be so large as to compromise proper closing and sealing of the tailgate. Is it me or does no one post a table (yes there was one) with a dbl burner coleman stove on it? I've only found a couple online that will accommodate one. Most pics are of some tiny single burner one sitting on it.
I don't understand recommendations for a tailgate table that can't even hold a decent sized stove.
A 2 burner coleman stove is a whole 14.5 inches wide. There are a couple tailgate tables on the market that are as wide as 16 inches, hardly compromising anything. So I politely disagree with your assertion that it's "plainly evident that the manufacturers are designing their tailgate tables to be as large as possible ". If that were true no table would accommodate said stove. In fact thats easily refuted by the one pictured with the exact stove I'm referring too and a couple I've found on the internet. . I never questioned people's taste, I just wonder why all tables aren't manufactured as large as possible despite your claim to the contrary. And despite preferences on number of burners, why on earth would anyone recommend the smaller tables? The dimensions of a tailgate table are inextricably linked to the comparatively limited height of the Wrangler's tailgate to which the table is mounted. Many of the pics in this thread make it plainly evident that the manufacturers are designing their tailgate tables to be as large as possible. If Jeep owner preferences trend toward the use of single-burner hiker stoves, that seems to be a separate, personal choice.
Having used Coleman stoves for years myself, that dimension sounded a bit undersized, so off to googles I went.A 2 burner coleman stove is a whole 14.5 inches wide.

It's 18" long 14.5" wide. Most "recommended" tables here are 13 or so inches wide. Yet there are some available that are wider, hence my confusion.Having used Coleman stoves for years myself, that dimension sounded a bit undersized, so off to googles I went.
This one is 18" wide, and that was just the first link on the list. Possibly there are others, in stock, with varying dimensions.
Anyway, these are academic distinctions. Buy whatever you can make work, Dom, and enjoy the ride.

i think linseed oil is the standardI wouldn't stain cutting board, may taint food.
Just use cutting board oil, food safe.
Actually, food-grade mineral oil.i think linseed oil is the standard
I just got one of these today after seeing it in this thread. I had the Quadratec table which was really good, but I like the fact that this table has actual hinges and the table is not supported by cables. I got a really good deal from OK4WD. They price matched along with a 10% off coupon…$500 with tax. As you said, the build quality matches the price. Really happy I switched to this.I thought that my wife was nuts for insisting on the Goose Gear table, but it was simple to install, it's exceptionally well made, you can open it with one hand, and I've never heard it rattle. Its price, however, matches its build quality.

Why is there a fan in the tailgate?I DIY’d out of home depot hardware, dyneema spearfishing rope and a large cutting board. Amazon thumbscrews through the cutting board hold it up when not in use.
