I just finished a DIY table from scraps laying around the shop - I spent a total of $1.36 for 5 screws. All else was "free". However - if I were to have been paid $2.00 an hour for engineering and fabrication time - it'd have been much cheaper to buy one.
That being said, here is my "do-all" table. 28" wide, 22" deep, with a 16" deep top shelf. Everything is hinged, so I can use either half table or whole table, top or bottom, as I see fit. The whole thing weighs 14 pounds and sits less than 2" deep when closed (including the 0.200" offset from the tailgate for venting). Made out of 0.062 aluminum.

One more flap and that'd make a dandy smoker.

Fishbone Offroad. Has a cutting board and cup holders. Best thing about it is due to the spring loaded latches, ZERO rattle. And I mean ZERO.

For AAL, is the paint durable? Wondering if unfinished is the way to go for practical use.

It’s powder coat and mine has been. It’s been on since 2021 and seen a lot of use. No nicks, no scratches.

I have the Frontrunner. It's very sturdy and stable, I don't recall ever hearing noise from it.
I do think it could have better wood (I stained and treated mine).
My Front Runner tailgate table is due next week. What did you use to treat the wood? TIA.

Nothing, yet. I was actually asking others to suggest a particular stain that's suited for our use here. ;)
Yup, looks like it needs a better stain, thinking of getting a better grade of wood and tracing a second table

I recently got a tailgate table from Suparee. I love it. Its seems to be great quality, I love how it has two fold downs. A large one and a smaller one. Its great for working on small things, eating pretty much whatever you want. I was worried about if it would make alot of noise with the metal but so far so good. I dont have a complaint with it. I dont have pics of it installed I recently dropped it off to have it powder coated. ? will update when I get it back.

I ordered one from Amazon. For my use, I won't be camping or overloading, but it will hopefully come in handy for loading/unloading groceries in the back of the Jeep.
That was the first and to date only "field use" of my new table. I am looking forward to deploying it during 2024's hoped-for camping trips.

Cutting board made sense to me. But like others have said, DIY, unless you are used to doing this and have a shop and can work really efficiently isn't that worth it.

Hi! I have Tailgate Tables suits for JL, JK, and 4xe (4 and 2 doors).
10.jpg
The ad copy mentions no drilling. Wouldn't the installer still need to remove the OEM plastic tailgate panel and drill holes in the molded-in punch marks? Doing so would accommodate proper positioning/alignment of the table's mounting hardware. Said punch marks are only visible on the backside of the panel, after removal.

Thanks.
