I haven't seen the install instructions for either the Quadratec or the M.O.R.E. dead pedals. What is there about the M.O.R.E. pedal that causes it to be so difficult to mount? Said another way, why can't M.O.R.E. use a Quadratec-like mounting point. Every man/woman/child who has bought a M.O.R.E. has complained about the install. Are the M.O.R.E. manufacturers gluttons for punishment, or is there a actual reason why it needs to be so hard to install?

Help me, because this seems like a true no-brainer. It seems like M.O.R.E. taking a routine pop fly and turning it into a circus catch.
The M.O.R.E. (and a few others like it) mounts to a factory bracket with holes on the left side of the footwell just above the plastic trim and requires inserting another bracket and 2 bolts through that bracket from the backside. This setup seems a lot harder to reach (and to see), and that pedal's bracket and bolts are known to get dropped while fumbling with the install from the other side causing them to fall down in behind the factory plastic trim. Hence the suggestions for using tape, zip ties and string or fishing line to temporarily secure it.

The reason for this mounting method still being popular might have a few reasons. Some of the Quadratec-style pedals that mount to a single bolt on the firewall are known to swivel on that bolt if the nut loosens up, getting stuck behind the brake pedal, which obviously can be very dangerous (haven't seen this as a complaint with the QT pedal, but with others like it). Some variations, like the DV8 pedal uses a larger bracket that instead mounts on 2 firewall bolts, which addresses any possible rotation. Lastly, the 4xe (and possibly the 392) have the leftmost firewall bolt much higher up, so only a M.O.R.E.-style mounting method would be compatible.

And maybe a non-issue, but that area of the firewall appears to be a large section of plastic with bolts protruding through. I'm sure the bolt itself is very sturdy, but I'm really not sure if the plastic was designed to have 200lbs of leverage pushing a metal bracket into it like that. The M.O.R.E.-style mount is only metal on metal, though I'm guessing that neither the left-side metal bracket or the plastic firewall shield were ever intended to hang shit off of with any weight or force.

Tldr; the Quadratec pedals don't fit the 4xe and maybe other reasons.

JLs? I’ve seen way more RHD JKs. But all in all, there have been very few made compared to LHD. Used ones are cheap. They are a pain to drive due to difficult sight lines when trying to make a left turn against oncoming traffic. Usually only mail delivery contractors buy them in North America.
RHD JL's are probably less common than JK's because the USPS started assigning postal LLV's to rural routes, making many Rural carriers stop using their personal vehicles back in the JK days. JK's were very popular Rural delivery vehicles.

I almost spec'd a RHD, 6-sp manual when I ordered mine, but the wife put the kibosh on that! I work for the Post Office, and used to teach people how to drive RHD vehicles. It's not that hard- just a short learning curve. The left-turn blind for oncoming traffic that you mentioned is an issue, but it just takes a little more patience to wait until you can see the way is clear.

If I had bought it, I coulda left that sucker running almost anywhere- car thieves would be like, "steering wheel is over there, I don't know how to drive a stick, AND I'd have to do it left-handed???:swear: "

If it had been stolen, I'd just tell the cops to look for an old retired mailman that had driven a Jeep DJ back in the day!!! (Start looking at NALCREST! <---IYKYK:giggle:)

I must say you impressed me with how fast you got my order to me. Good job.
Thanks! I do my best to keep everything in stock. Sometimes it is out of my control. If it is in stock, most orders ship within 1 day of ordering!

Take a look at the Dead Pedal I designed. Made from 1/8" aluminum, so it is beefy! Simple install, all you need to do is remove the firewall bolt, put the pedal in place and replace the bolt. The pedal lifts out of the way for floor mat removal. The best feature of the pedal... I have two optional switches that mount in the pedal. The "Old School" floor dimmer switch or a momentary switch. I use the floor dimmer switch in my JL and JT and have it controlling a set of off-road lights. It makes the ultimate backroad high beam switch. No more fumbling trying to find a button to push while driving, just click the switch with your foot. The momentary switch was an option I added for customers looking for a way to control items such as a train horn.

I’ve got the quadratec one in my gladiator, and my wife has the red rock one in the wrangler. I prefer the quadratec one it’s longer and more comfortable imo. I’ve stood on the quadratec while Offroad with no give.

Is the 813 pedal more Quadratec-like than M.O.R.E.-like in terms of installation ease?
