For the past few months, i have noticed that my start/stop stopped working. No big deal to me as it was annoying anyways. But i have since learned that that was a way of telling me that my battery is going to die soon.

Last night i tried to start the jeep and it would not start. The headlights worked, the inside lights worked, my uconnect screen worked etc. I tried 3x and then my pedal seemed to lock up. I tried jumping it last night (i probably didnt know what i was doing) but it didnt work—but this morning i did it again and it finally started up. My check engine light is showing on the dash.

do i need to replace the both batteries asap? Im wondering since it is friday and a lot of the mechanic shops ate closed tomorrow. I have not tried going back to start it since about 10am this morning so i don't even know if it will crank back up without being jumped again. It also sounded a little weird too. I attached the video

There’s a lot to read on this subject, but I’ll try and help. If you have just a standard- non Etorque, non exe jeep with an aux battery, simply disconnect the negative aux battery from the main battery,(tape it and zip tie it safely out of the way) and remove fuse 42. Then try and charge the existing main battery to get it started. Then go to auto zone and have them load test the main battery, if bad, replace it. Then get an auto stop eliminator to keep the main battery from having to carry the burden of powering the jeep during a start stop event. Obviously, if the main won’t take a charge, just replace it- I suggest an H7 size if you have a smaller batter

As mentioned, under no circumstances replace the aux battery. Beside the cost, you are handing your Jeep a stick to beat you with.

It's been my experience from testing that a dead (or in my testing disconnected) Aux battery (provided as @ScotM said you have a dual AGM battery JL) will result in (all but early M.Y. 2018's) the vehicle's failure to crank on its first attempt, but, provided the main battery has ample power, allow the crank to succeed on subsequent attempts, turning ESS off in the dash if the crank succeeds.

Just to rule out things, can I presume you tried cranking more than once in a relatively short time frame?

Regardless, @ScotM's post is on point.
