Ball on dash

Recently purchased 2020 jeep willy and see the small ball next to the tray. Is that for use with a ram mount or just decorative?

Thanks. I assume the comment about the manual was sarcasm. I started with the manual, looked up dash and there was no reference to direct me to. Now that I know what it is I suppose I could look up sensor but that presupposes I already knew it was a sensor which I did not

Sure it isn’t a temp sensor nipple that gets hard and protrudes indicating that you need to turn on the heat/defrost?

The light-sensitive nipple is an interesting throwback to plastic S10 Chevy blazers of the early aughts. And here we are, nearing the brink of 2024.

I think it also has a LED that flashes when the doors are locked, indicating the security system is armed?
