I was laying there trying to go to sleep, worrying about why it didn't go off and would that run the battery down. We were camping south of Montezuma, CO so not a good place to have a dead battery. I do carry a lithium jump starter for emergencies. After a couple of hours I crawled out of the sleeping bag and cycled the push button to ACC, RUN then off and after a minute it went off.
Didn't mean it's nothing to worry about - your situation as example - just that you are unlikely to find a root cause. I have 210Kmi on my 2018 and weird one-offs (or two-offs) like this happen from time to time.

While the vehicle is running this doesn't say much about the battery but is some indication of the charging system. I haven't tried looking at voltage when the car is not running, that might indicate just the battery voltage.
I read that a properly charged AGM should read 12.8-13.1 V. I just got a new battery and from the dealer it read 12.6V.

I bought a used 2018 almost 3 years old. When it was right at 3 years old I put a new battery in it so I would have peace of mind while on trails. The battery I took out of the 3 year old car was only 2 years old which implies that the OEM battery lasted 1 year. The battery I put in lasted 47 months and I got it replaced under warranty. The replacement lasted 7 months and I got it replaced today. I don't know what to think about the replacement battery. 7 months ago one store told me that on the average they last 5-7 years. The other store today told me that they almost never have to replace one of them under warranty (5 year warranty). The battery industry is crap and buying a new battery of any brand is a crapshoot, YMMV.
I tested my battery this morning and it is right at 12.5v. I’m gonna keep an eye on it and if need be replace it before winter hits.

Somebody mentioned bluetooth battery monitors so I searched and found a few. Basically you wire it into the battery, connect to an app on your phone and it will tell you what is happening with the battery when you are within bluetooth range. I'm considering getting one, but more importantly I'm considering getting an actual battery tester and using it before any big trip I make. Project Farm did a test on several of them so I've picked a couple to consider. I took a long trip at the first of this month including an overnight camp out in the middle of nowhere. A couple of weeks after I got back, not even 50 miles later, my 7 month old battery died with one day of advance warning. It seems that batteries are becoming the most unreliable part of my vehicles.

it's sensing the FOB and staying ready for you to start the motor.
It's not just a Jeep thing. I need to keep my FOB for my 2021 SUV away from the attached garage or the lights will be on even if in a drawer in the house.

Having the fob within range of the Jeep's (2018+) proximity sensor should not keep the cluster active after placing the ignition system in the OFF state and you open and close the door. The Jeep should do a shutdown sequence where the cluster will stay lit for 30 sec and then all active states will end.

IF you turn the Jeep off but don't open and close the door, it won't completely power down. The cluster should still shut off but some background systems will remain active. It should now be waiting for one of these things: press door unlock button on the door, open the door, ignition button press and a few others including a service sequence.

Basically, if you turn the Jeep off but don't open a door it will not completely shut off regardless if what else you do. But, the cluster remaining on is not supposed to happen.

Another Jeep thing?
Driving home from the grocery store this afternoon I see this. Did the computer get stuck trying to boot itself? I took the photo at a stop sign, the engine was still running. None of the buttons on the steering wheel had any affect on it.

I have a 2024 and it done it to me a few times. Notice it happens more often if I make multiple stops (i.e. going to different locations and shutting it off) compared to long trips or just going to work and back.
