We have a new 2018 Sahara Unlimited which is my wife’s car and have owned for about 1 month. I noticed yesterday that the dome lights both front and rear were staying on while driving. After stoping and locking the doors the lights stayed on. Hours later they went off. This AM I opened up the door, they came on and went off as soon as I locked the Jeep. I did this several times and they went off. My wife told me that the lights had been staying on for extended periods of time before.

The only control I found that I assume is related to these lights is the dimmer next to the dash dimmer. IE little roller switches near the headlight knob. The owners manual and the user manuals on line make no mention of a control for these lights.

Thanks for any input.

As yo roll them you will feel the internal switches roll them down and it should turn off your over head light 1 side is the floor lights the other is dashboard and over head.

Yea, it doesn’t turn them off when I roll it, I can feel the switch click at the bottom. This morning I drove it and they stayed on the entire drive. When I got home I locked the door and they stayed on. I went out about 15 minutes later and they were off. I opened the door again and they came on, when I closed and locked they didn’t turn off as they did earlier today. At this point I’m guessing there is a problem.

The next thing I would look at is make sure the door electrical connections are seated well and get some dialectic grease to seal them from moisture.

I don’t have a fix but I had that exact same problem in a JLU Sahara I rented. I had to swap it out with another Jeep b/c no one could figure it out.

Hi Jaymanbikes,

I certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you are not able to remedy the concern based on the advice provided here, I kindly suggest connecting with your local Jeep dealer. We’re available via private message if you are in need of any assistance with that process.
