$4110.55 for 1 head gasket only!! This includes plugs too. Additional oil change cost I will also pay. No labor charge to install the dorman aluminum unit I purchased thru Rockauto.

I had my head gasket go at 75k on my 2018 JLUR 3.6 Auto

I'm sure someone's already suggested it, but a leak down test can be done overnight if you want to check for a head gasket. It does help if you're getting misfires on specific cylinders so you can target the ones to check time wise though.

I had the gasket replaced, parts trued up at a machine shop, new plugs, new seals, timing chain and guides, and a few other things while the mechanic was in there for right at $5200

Two weeks after getting it back i took her on a 6k+ mile road trip to Moab, Utah.

Now I'm replacing suspension coomonents, but that's from the trip not the gasket

Point is, it was well worth eating the repair costs to keep her going and keep the miles coming.

Eh, people post their bad experiences. Most are more like this, a 200k mile grand Cherokee that was absolutely abused. Was missing an entire cam lobe, then blew the head gasket.

It runs fine now.

My wifes cousin had her head gaskets done on her 2018 JLUS. She said it was about $3200. There And thats here in so cal. She just doesnt live in rip off central like @SadRobot does

she also bought a brand new house for $400k two years ago. In @SadRobot neck of the woods that will get you a nice 3 bedroom tent with a view and parking for two bicycles.

just found a pic of the invoice she sent me when she had it done. Granted, this was 14 months ago, so prices may have doubled due to tariffs, epstein, venezuela, etc…

I have my 2021 unlimited sport 3.6 in the shop with blown head gasket. 62500 miles on it. Oh...by the way...I purchased it with 60500 miles on it, from a dealer I've trusted since 2014.

Maybe someone traded it in knowing it was wounded and didn't disclose it....

Looks like they changed the oil every 20,000 miles whether it needed it or not.
