Got to ask, how common is this on the 3.6? With how this thread is titled and sounding, it isn’t uncommon… might make me decide for sure on the 2.0t.

I know this is an old post. But my 2025 pentastar was produced in Michigan, not MX. Do you see The U.S. produced pentastar failing?
They have changed production locations so many times since 2019 that I lost track. @alphawolff may know.

FWIW, my 3.6 was manufactured in Mexico.

We build the older pentastar here in the U.S, but the pug comes out of Mexico. The U.S. plant is also building PUGs these days but *very* few compared to the Mexico plant. If you have a U.S. built PUG you're in the minority.

We're currently in the process of moving all hemi production to the new plant, I'm not sure if PUGs will follow that. We actually stopped hemi production for awhile and all new vehicles were being built with the large stock we had laying around, so moving production was pretty easy I'd reckon.

Very, very common for the upgraded 3.6L. We're seeing 2-3 a week at my shop, mainly in grand cherokees. They usually blow between 50k-75k if they're going to blow. In nearly all cases we're getting them good willed if they're outside of warranty so long as it isn't too far out time wise. I believe we've also started leaning into just doing engines instead of the head under warranty, because you replace one side and the other side blows 5-10k later and it's a headache.

This is also why aftermarket warranty companies are horrendous. We know without a shadow of a doubt what the issue is, yet they want meaningless tear down in hopes you decline the tear down.
So doing only one side is probably a waste of time. Damn.

103k miles on the 3.6L 2018 Jeep and i started getting misfire errors and coolant lose. Changed sparkplugs and still misfire error codes. Im taking it for a head gasket diagnose they quoated me around $5k-$6k here in LA if the head gaskets need to be replaced. Not sure what to do if that's the case. I really hope is the oil cooler leaking coolant producing fumes that get into the cylinders since that will be cheaper to fix but it's most likely a head gasket. If it's that much to fix it not sure if to trade it for a non jeep car since i won't have trust on another jeep or just pay the fix and hope it will last me anohter 50k miles atleast.

That’s not a bad price, just fix it. Your description of an oil cooler leak causing a misfire is total nonsense though, it’s the head gasket if it has a rough cold start.
