Most of the time yes, but the lifetime policy that Mopar offered to the JK’s, was discontinued. Because they lost a lot of money on it.
Still got mine on my 2008. Dealer did upper and lower oil pan gaskets and a few other things last year it was great. 180k miles. Rear main seal and axle gaskets or something. Definitely a forever Jeep for me.

I have personally seen ONE with loose head bolts. And I mean LOOSE. <10 ftlb. Working on all makes and models, we don't see enough numbers on one specific engine to get a sample size that matters. Every other blown head gasket I've seen on these has been concurrent with a split radiator seam.
We don't find them loose like that either, but it could be as simple as them being 10-15ftlb under spec causing the issue. They don't blow instantly, after all. On the 3.6L they blow with no outside influence like coolant leaks or overheating. It's wild with how many we're seeing on a weekly basis

Mine gave no prior warning. I added about 1/2 cup of coolant maybe 8 months ago. 2-3 days before it blew coolant and oil were clean and at correct levels. The engine was never overheated. Driving it home and to the dealer with the misfire all parameters on the EVIC were normal. Just glad she wasn't in the middle of no where when it happened.

Very, very common for the upgraded 3.6L. We're seeing 2-3 a week at my shop, mainly in grand cherokees. They usually blow between 50k-75k if they're going to blow. In nearly all cases we're getting them good willed if they're outside of warranty so long as it isn't too far out time wise. I believe we've also started leaning into just doing engines instead of the head under warranty, because you replace one side and the other side blows 5-10k later and it's a headache.

This is also why aftermarket warranty companies are horrendous. We know without a shadow of a doubt what the issue is, yet they want meaningless tear down in hopes you decline the tear down.
So what you're saying is, 3.6L in the JL has a reliability of 75,000 MI?

That's pretty shit!!

Really glad now I waited for the EcoDiesel!!

I dont know much about this aspect - is a dealership extended warranty better? I thought they were from the same companies. I havent bought an extended yet but planned to go third party on it instead of the dealer.

Warranty "companies" always make money - that's because all they do is sell a warranty. They don't care what happens after they sell that policy because it's not their problem anymore. The funds that actually have to pay claims also make money - but that doesn't mean they make money on every policy. They lose on a lot of policies.

Most third party warranties, are not worth the paper that they are written on. I only use the Mopar extended warranty policies. Also think about this: Jeep Dealers are not obligated to honor third party warranties, but they are with Mopar.

I change my own oil, I only have 6800 miles on my jeep, do you know if saving oil receipts is necessary for warranty coverage?

I've never compared 3rd party cost directly with, say, a manufacturer's extended warranty, but this is my experience. My wife and I bought a GM product from a GM dealer and they included a 3rd party warranty. It was included in the overall purchase price and was not negotiable separately. Price was supposedly a $700 value, which seemed reasonable, and to be honored by any GM dealer.

A year later we move and the radiator starts to leak. New GM dealer says we have to pay and we have to submit paperwork for reimbursement. Warranty company agrees to repair, not replace radiator. We had several other warranty claims that were handled the same way. A few years later, after the warranty expires, the radiator starts leaking again. This time, it can't be repaired, and I have to pay for a new one. Bottom line, for what the warranty paid, and hassle making a claim, I would have been better off paying out of pocket to a local repair shop.

I would. I've read of warranty companies looking for any excuse to deny a claim.

I need to check our extended warranty (wife did all of the paperwork) to see what the particulars are. Seems like installing ARP studs before the engine it goes boom would be prudent, but the labor to do that isn't much different I guess.

But then all extended warranties are actuarially sound with a significant profit margin. It depends on your risk tolerance but at the end of the day the warranty company makes money.
Until you need a new engine and cheeped out on not getting the warranty... how much is a new engine+install?

manufacturers extended warranty will require you to have the work done at a dealership. No third party shops.
