Took my 2021 Rubicon in yesterday for the recall. I was just informed the test indicates it needs the battery replaced. They are reaching out to Jeep on how to proceed.

I do apologize if this sounds a bit too snarky, but either the technicians are making a LOT per minute (for rejoicing to be justified to get an extra six minutes of pay) or the sarcasm wasn't quite related well in the prior post. Just saying.

It's just sarcasm. Stellantis is just spitting in our faces. They hear the compensation is too low for the work required so they toss an extra 0.1 on top as a joke. Somebody at the warranty administration must get off to screwing with people as hard as possible. Total south park cable company levels of scumbaggery.

Is the .1 enough to cover a beer?

I do wonder how many CDJR dealerships are praying the remaining 4xes don’t get recalled. Especially the CARB ones, which as of 2023, have stopped receiving internal combustion models unless it was a custom order.

Hey everyone! I got my 4xe back today from the battery recall and it was given back with 38% battery. I drooped it with 40% when I questioned the service advisor why it wasn't at least 90 as per the instructions in the recall procedures he said oh i know exactly what your talking about. Yeah jeep updated the recall instructions after a bunch of pushback from dealerships about how long it takes to do and now the instructions say that there just needs to be "some" charge in the battery. Has anyone heard this? I have a sneaking suspicion this wasn't done right.

I decided to check.

Jeep Wrangler JL B9A recall is available! 1711585368657-d1

Looks like the recall has been updated to change the 90% charge requirement to 50-80%. The recall also pays an additional 0.1 hours now.

I asked another tech since he did one earlier. The procedure has been changed in witech. Now you have to have the SOC in the BPCM data between 50-80%, then it runs a 5 minute timer, then tells you to charge it over 90% SOC, then restart procedure.

The simple version is you should still be getting it back over 90%. If you brought it in at full charge they'd have to drive it until under 80% (or charge to 50% if under that), run a check, charge to over 90%, then run the first integrity test, 3 hour soak, another integrity test, final 3 hour soak, then the final integrity test.

lol

If they changed it due to "pushback from dealers" then they're just fucking with us at this point.

So it sounds like they are missing interpreting the SOC requirements and not doing it correctly or just installing the software and calling it good.

New update says ETA April 2nd. I'm assuming that's battery replaced and back to me fully fixed. Hopefully the new battery and updates apply smoothly with no major issues ?

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the new BPCM software does indeed include logic to detect failing batteries on its own. It seems to run its own tests every time the battery sits for over 2 hours. Even if the dealer doesn't do the battery integrity procedure you will get an CEL on within a day or so indicating the pack needs to be replaced.

Good news all in all, at least we won't have more exploding battery packs

Great news. Do you know if the defroster recall updates the BPCM as well? Reason I am asking is I have two 4xe's. One with the B9A and the other doesn't. I just wondering if the non B9A one also has that capability now with the defrost update.

Update, after the star case was opened and a week spent trying different things stellantis approved a new battery with an ETA of April 15th for it to arrive.
