Aux Switches: cool things beyond light bars

So I got the tow package which comes with the aux switches that makes wiring so much easier and customizable. Lighting is an obvious choice for say switch 1 or 2. But what about the other 2 switches? I know a guy who wired his winch to 3 and 4, and I'm sure some of you have found even more creative ways to exploit this option. Please share...

Make sure you put your big lights on #2. That way when somebody flashes their high beams at you for no reason you can deuce on 'em... ; )

tied to a relay they can be used for pretty much anything.
i just finished reinstalling my house battery and use aux3 as a relay switch for the charging system.

The lightbar I want has a built in switch.

If I mount my OBA I might (probably will) use a switch for that.

Maybe some rock lights but I dont wheel much at night.

Maybe a siren?

I have the offroad lights on #2 and rock lights on #4 but nothing yet on 1 & 3. I've been considering using a power solenoid on one of the others for the winch but there just doesn't seem to be a good place to mount that.

Good idea. I had an old YJ with a train horn. Always fun when driving by the tweakers.

Most guys I know mount it right next to the positive battery post. That's where I put my breaker.

Another idea - for ME - would be to wire hard mounted ham/cb/gmrs radio(s) to those switches and set them to turn on and off with the ignition. That way when I forget to turn my radio off it doesn’t kill my battery.

There was a post on the forum a while back about mounting the solenoid to a piece of angle iron. I went to a box store and bought one painted it red and it was easily mounted to the body. Lets one mount the winch solenoid and anything else to it and keep it very clean looking. My winch is on Aux 4. I have the coms radio wired to the ignition wire that also is bundled inside the firewall.

That's cool. I've not gotten into mine yet. So there's an ignition wire in there separate from the 4 switched wires? Do you know the fuse size for it?

You are going to want multiple lighting zones (spots, floods, back-up, ditch, under hood, camp, rock, etc.).

Other than lights you may consider:

• relay for the winch
• onboard air
• aftermarket lockers (non-Rubi)
• train horn to scare your spotter /s
