Has anyone hardwired a weboost cell booster into these? Can i cut cigarette lighter plug off and splice into one of these connections? If i splice into ignition it will always be on when Jeep is on... Correct? Thanks

I wired my dash cam to the battery cable under the dash and ever since then my XM radio has cut in and out. No issues when using Bluetooth audio from my phone. I was following another thread about radio and backup camera issues thinking I have the same problem, but then came to realize that if I just unplug my camera the issue goes away. Wondering if anyone else has experienced similar issues. I plan on rewiring this week to the Aux wire to see if it makes any difference.
I wired mine to Aux. 4, no problems.

I still haven't been able to find time to rewire. I am also wondering if I have a bad connection or a bad ground. Regardless I want to reconnect to the ignition or an aux switch.

I finally got around to rewiring to an aux switch, and got the same result. Then i tried using the cigarette lighter plug to rule out the wiring and got the same result. I think the camera gps is interfering with the signal for the XM.

I had a BlackVue DR650 dash cam in my 2017 JKUR but a specialised installer told me it interefered with my DAB radio (that UK digital) and on his advise I had him install another brand.

Now I’ve got a 2019 JLUR punk’n
However, that BlackVue cameras still works fine, and using it plugged into the rear cargo power socket I didn’t get any interference. Next I’ll hook it up to Aux 3 or 4. Hope I don’t get interference!

Maybe a stupid question but its been quite some time since I have wired lights, but this eliminates the need for a relay, as its built into the harness correct? So its as simple as a connection for power off the wiring harness to whatever switch number/color you choose, and the ground wired back to a grounding lug.

Now what about wiring in a small powered sub, would the 40A, switch set to power on with the vehicle, be enough to power a 8" Kicker or Infiniti say 100-150W? That would really simplify the wiring and just require splicing for the speaker level input.
Had the same question. Wiring in several sets of Baja Designs LED lights. I inquired if I needed the wire harnesses for them with fuses and relays. Per Baja Designs tech department if I am using the OEM installed aux switch I do not need their harness as the 4 power leads are already fused and have specified AMP ratings. Basically Jeep has preinstalled 4 wiring harnesses for us with fuses and relays. From the tech guys at Baja Designs you can run a hot and neg from the light direct to the aux switch you want and the ground lug.

Update. It’s taken a while as I had to order some cables. Anyway, largely through the dash cam install.
Same issue as Mark had ( post 67/68) and the video was wrong for my ‘socket’ ... there’s a tiny tab at the very bottom that just needs lifting for the socket to pop off. I spend ages looking for some button as per the video. I wonder if there was a manufacturer change?

After I loosened the rear of the overhead panel, I had enormous trouble reinstalling it. I need to do It agin now with the new wiring. Any tips would be really helpful.

Great thread! Saved me a lot of research, trial and error.

I have a quick question. I'm looking into adding a few USB ports to the passenger foot well of my JLUR. These ports would be for charging a Garmin 66i and an ipad mini used for running Gaia GPS, both are mounted with Ram mounts one on the glove box grab handle and one on a 67 designs rail.

I have found a few surface mounts on amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071J3ZQBB/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza?th=1
and
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003EET3X...olid=2NNVQ0M0K3XZQ&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Now my question is has anyone done something like this? I was thinking I could mount either somewhere in the footwell and connect to the ignition F50 wire. That brings me to my second question from what I understand the ignition F50 aux wire has a 10amp fuse, would the 10amp fuse be enough?

Any help, recommendations, alternative options etc...would be appreciated.

I’m not sure where to post this. I installed the aux switch package. Got stuff hooked to switch 1,3 and 4 all working. Went to hook up switch 2 and it has no power to the end. It did a few weeks ago when I checked it. I checked the fuse and it has power. I switched the relay with a known good one and it still didn’t work but the switch I put the relay in did work so relay is good. Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks

Dale

@Shots

I see you are preparing for your install and thinking it through ahead of time. That is a positive move.

DO think over what ground point you will use. Actually, think multiple ground points you could use in case one you think will work will not.

.
this shouldn’t be a huge issue, lots of ground points, even visible in the pics...still, a self tapping screw will work if carefully placed for small to medium gauge neg wire connection. Just make sure you are not on an outside wall and clear of wires on the other side of where you are screwing intoother
