IMO Mopar and/or 3rd parties would make a killing if they would offer a wireless charger that fit in the bottom cubby of the dash console. I mean what else is that small cubby good for anyway? The other spot would be a retrofit part charger pad/shelf that replaces the top shelf inside the center console. I'm so tired of wires and mounts hanging off of my dash and in my face. I recently purchased a carplay/android auto wireless adapter and love it. Now I'm hoping for a wireless charger for a completely clean wireless setup. The Sanctum charger is a no go for me because #1 it is directly in the middle of the armrest, and #2 the almost $400 price tag for a charging pad that would always be in the wrong spot is way too much.

Now this is similar to what I was thinking about for inside the console, only using the upper center console tray.

I wish more phone manufacturers produced phones with pogo pins.

I have a Kyocera DuraForce Ultra 5G E7110 and a Pine Phone. Each has pogo pins.

Galaxy XCover is one I've read about with the feature.

The cheaper side (charger) has springy metal contacts at the right position for the device, and the phone has stationary metal contacts externally that connect to the battery. The USB port is not needed (but can be used) for charging. With a few older phones getting loose connections at the USB port, this feature has grown on me over the last two years.

Currently using Carlinkit Tbox Max. In addition to unlocking a Wireless CarPlay functionality, it also enables me to watch YouTube and play games on the car screen when I’m charging the vehicle.

@BradBrown

I'm curious....

How does the Carlinkit Tbox Max, dongle handle things when you turn your JL off?

All USB ports on the JL stay powered up for for approx. 40 mins. after ignition off....

Anyway, does your smartphone keep trying to talk to the dongle or vice versa during the time that the USB ports are powered up after ignition off.

I use a 67 Design phone mount on the dash, it puts my phone just to the right and slightly above and behind the steering wheel, but in clear view. I use a short usb cable to plug in power and I use CarPlay, so the cable doesn’t really bother me.

Two main reasons. First, I always want the most battery I can have on my phone when I exit the car, so it charges. Besides Waze and most Nav are battery hogs. Second, I find wireless/bluetooth CarPlay implementation in UConnect 5 to be buggy as hell. They need to get the bugs out of their software. Plugged in doesn’t present 10% of the problems that wireless does.

I routed my wire behind the trim and behind the HVAC controls so it doesnt really bother me either.

The tweak I'd consider would be to get a color-matching or black cable.
Agreed. At one time I did have one. But when the phone was first released it had issues connecting. When it finally started working I stopped messing with it lol. Would be even better if I could connect it behind the panel so it’s not on the outside. From what I recall reading though it seems to get power and data on separate lines back there I think. I could be remembering wrong though. Memory isn’t what it used to be and I’m running in two hours of sleep haha.

Is there something wrong with AAWireless? It's cheap and works well enough.
I’m not all that techy. So just Google that I suppose and it makes it wireless?

I can't imagine going back to a tethered smartphone and a phone mount in my Wrangler..
Did that for years. Tethered is no longer needed..

Funny... I remember my first cellphone ... a Motorola DynaTAC 8000X back in 1983. I was one of the first in my area with one...

Wireless Android Auto is pure pleasure in my opinion. My Samsung S24 in conjunction with an AAWireless dongle works great for me. No issues at all.... and I drive lots of miles yearly.

The AAWireless dongle is lets say a work in progress in regard to CarPlay.. It's getting there in regards to CarPlay but still needs some time to shake the quirks out of it...

I'm an Android user so can not give you any direction in regard to CarPlay.
